Starting lineup plus possible TDL plans for depth
Gudbranson remains... you know, <strong><em>bad.</em></strong> I'd rather keep Peeke as our 3RD.

I'm saying those are the names that make Jarmo at least listen, rather than immediately hanging up the phone.

Jones doesn't get traded for anyone short of EP, Matthews, McDavid, Draisaitl or MacKinnon. That's the list. And Peeke is ready to go, so no need to sign both Ham and Vat. Unless a third team (that wants a goalie) is involved, I don't see a great match for the Jets and CBJ on a Laine trade.

Laine and Hoffman
I'd rather have Granlund than Hoffman, because he at least tries on defense, and could rebound offensively with the right linemates. And yeah, that's nowhere near enough for Laine.

Gaudreau to CLB
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tkachinla</b></div><div>Atkinson is still the 1RW by a mile in CLB...
Though the rest of the comment stands. I know it's a high price, but I could see Treliving starting around this package and sliding it down. Like CLB fans, I'm really impressed with Texier's game and development. I don't see him getting to the 90+ points level (ie. elite), but who knows. If the package was Texier + Bjorkstrand + 2nd, I think Jarmo would really have to think about that deal for Gaudreau, even with the risk of walking to UFA in 2 years. Part of the thinking is that Gaudreau still holds big value at two trade deadlines before his contract expires, so if the fit isn't there with Dubois OR if Gaudreau told management he didn't intend to extend, they could flip him for picks/prospects and recoup a decent chunk of the price paid to get him.</div></div>
Torts has already said his top line as the roster stands is Texier - Dubois - Bjorkstrand. And Bjorkstrand easily outproduced Atkinson this year, playing at a 35-goal pace over a full 82 games. I've heard from people who would know that the front office is utterly in love with Texier, too, so I just have a hard time seeing them going for this deal.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense for Columbus. We'd be trading away our 1LW, our 1RW, a first and a second for a new (admittedly better) 1LW. Too high a price to pay.

So is he going to be our fourth line center
Khaira is that and he is the PK beast
So maybe this trade is totally crazy and will never work
Try Winnipeg or Columbus who needs centers.</div></div>
Columbus no longer needs centers (Dubois, Domi, Koivu, Nash, Grigorenko, Jenner in a pinch). We need a top-flight LW.

Lines for opening night
1. Grig is going to play, at least at first. We promised him a slot to get him to sign.
2. We're not gonna be using LTIR. McConnell isn't gonna let Jarmo get into that. (Also, we could just put Dubi on regular IR and still squeeze under the cap in the scenario you've laid out.)
3. Otherwise looks pretty good!

2020-21 Hoffman
Yeah, I'd much rather take on Granlund than Hoffman for a litany of reasons. I'm thinking they move Stenlund to the AHL in preseason, before waivers kick in. And the more I think about it, the more I'm fine with Foudy and/or Bemstrom starting in the AHL, so they can get top-line minutes and really develop away from Torts and the line blender. (Also, Carlsson down to the AHL, Peeke up at 3RD and Kukan to 3LD, he's naturally left-handed.)

Thread:
Line idea
I mean, given the reality of the Torts line blender, I imagine we'll see something resembling this at some point this year. But Koivu was explicitly signed to allow Jenner to move back to the wing. I'd sooner expect Jenner - Nash - Foligno on that fourth line. And Torts has said he's expecting to run Tex - Dubois - Bjorkstrand on the top line. I think it's expecting rather a lot of Grigorenko that we'd put him up top despite not playing in the NHL for years now. He's a complete wild card. Your defensive pairs are dead-on, and accurate. (I do think Gav signs for something like 2x2.5, and Dubois for 3x6.5.)
And I suspect Harrington will be up, Carlsson will be in the AHL (two-way contract and all), and so will Stenlund (moved there before waivers kick in). And everything I'm hearing suggests that McConnell isn't gonna let us use LTIR, so we'll need to find a way to squeeze Dubi's contract in on regular IR or trade him.

So why does Columbus want Cizikas in this scenario? He's a bottom-6 guy, and we've already got like 14 of those.

Big Moves
As a Blue Jackets fan, I don't hate this move... god help me, an idea that offers good value AND takes our needs into account. I think this would've been a lot more feasible before we traded away Murray and (sob) Nutivaara, but our D depth is much thinner now.

Columbus can't trade Savard without getting a top-4 D back in return; we've already traded away a lot of defensive depth this offseason. And we already have like 13 bottom-6 forwards, so we don't want or need Bjork or Ritchie.

Laine for Center

Laine doesn't get Werenski by himself, let alone Jones. The list of forwards for whom I'd even consider trading Jones is exceptionally small, and Laine isn't on it.

To hear him tell it, it was to clear out all that salary to warn away any GMs thinking of an offer sheet for Dubois. I imagine that we wouldn't have gotten much for them in hockey trades. (Still big mad we traded Nuti for that ECHL player, rather than trading Riley Nash.)

Even if this were fair value (which it isn't, but that's besides the point), Columbus has already traded significant pieces of our defensive depth away. We can't move Savard without the return being a slam dunk win... which this isn't.

If Hellebuyck wasn't on the Jets, there'd be a chance for a deal built around Elvis, Savard, and one of the young forwards. As it is, I think the only way a deal gets made is if Chevy gets real desperate, or Jarmo pushes in a bunch of first rounders.

another Laine proposal
As a CBJ fan, I can't see this happening. Werenski is likely untouchable without greater term on Laine, and Jones is basically untouchable except for a very few names leaguewide (McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, Pettersson... maybe one or two others, but Laine isn't on that list).

You misspelled Granlund. And I'd sacrifice one of Bemstrom or Foudy, but not both, and certainly not Marchenko. And I imagine the Jets would have interest in Savard, given their needs at RD.

Laine Trade Possibilities BUF CBJ FLA
Gavrikov, Foudy and the first-rounder are all assets that Jarmo has deemed off-limits previously... but I think he at least considers this offer. Would have been more feasible before we traded away Murray and Nutivaara, thinning out our D corps.
