Enjoy the 2nd round pick youll get for Tanev</div></div>
I’ll take a bet on that every day that we get more than a 2nd for Tanev. I guess you don’t understand how markets work. 10 teams interested means you talk back and forth to see what teams are willing to offer. It also includes patience to wait for teams who maybe become more desperate. I’d say Quinn Hughes goes down for an extended time then what the Canucks are willing to give up probably changes. Thats just one example. You think Vancouver’s initial offer for Lindholm was what they ended up paying? There were tons of Nucks trade offers for Lindholm on here that were way less than what you paid for him.
It’s fine if the answer is no dude. No need to get so defensive about it. It sure doesn’t mean that Tanev is only worth a 2nd just because you’re not willing to pay the ask in this particular scenario.
Some of you guys on here need to chill. Ideas are things to be discussed. If you aren’t able to do it in constructive ways maybe this site isn’t for you ;)

He's playing very well under Tocchet's system even if it doesn't show as much on the scoreboard.
I still think a Myers for Tanev swap should be looked at by Allvin, but it seems they don't want to pay a 1st for him. Likely there's another team that will.</div></div>

Good constructive post here. I appreciate that. I think Coleman is a big upgrade on Garland. Garland has played “better” but you still have him for another 3 years for a third line guy who doesn’t chip in much offensively. Coleman is showing his offensive ability and can play the physical style arguably better than Garland too. In my eyes that’s a big upgrade.
Myers is terrible defensively. Everyone has known this his whole career. Tanev has been a warrior and is known to elevate the play of anyone he’s paired with his entire career. There’s a reason there are 10 teams interested in the guy for playoffs. That also drives the price up. So when we look at things it’s about what the market dictates and based on competition for the player.
I think it would be a lot to give up but it would make your chances at raising the big mug so much better this year. This is the year the Nucks seem to be going for it so might as well give yourselves the best chances you can.

Right but when there’s 10 teams interested then the price goes up. Do you think the price Vancouver paid was the price that Lindholm was “said to get”? Nope Vancouver wanted him so they paid the price to get him.

Why can’t it be both? Calgary could retain this year and have him agree to an extension before a trade is made. That’s how they’d maximize value for him. Nobody has made any kind of real trade offer here so far.

No need to be so sensitive when people disagree with you. Maybe you should find another hobby that doesn’t trigger you so much.
There are thousands of examples of guys not playing at “home” and a handful of ones where it happened. So you saying that “everyone knows Hanifin wants to sign in Boston” is not only ridiculous to pretend you know what the guy intends to do, but also the most flimsy argument someone can make in a thread.
If you don’t want to play along with more than what your limited point of view suggests then maybe just stick to PS5 where you’re always right ;)

I think Calgary is willing to retain. Nobody knows whether or not hanifin will sign an extension but I think if it’s a contender in the states I’d say he might be interested. So since none of us are insiders we can add it into trade proposals here.

I always love these rumors about everyone wanting to play where they are from or played before. The reality is it only happens in a handful of situations. So I don’t believe it’s Boston or nobody, especially if another team is willing to offer more money.

Offers for Lindholm
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>For the Canes, I could see them being interested in a reunion with Lindholm. That being said, the only way they even entertain Lindholm is if he is guaranteed to come with an extension, one that the Canes would realistically be willing to pay out (something along the lines of 6-8 years about 6-7mil). If Lindholm stands pat on wanting 1C money as a high end 2C, Canes have no interest. And if it’s acquiring Lindholm as a rental, they aren’t going to spend big assets like 1sts and top prospects for him to play 1/4 of a season.
As for an offer, assuming the above extension is in place, how about 24’ 1st, Ponomarev or Drury (Flames choice), TDA (for cap reasons if necessary; if not necessary then remove), Gunler, and any D prospect not named Morrow or Nikishin.</div></div>
I think this would be the deal I’d take if I were the flames. Assuming the extension worked for the Canes. But if you want a player you’ll find a way I suppose.
I’d take Gunler, the first, Deangelo, Heimo, and probably Drury. That seems like a lot to me and I’d gladly accept it.
Thanks for the offers everyone. I think this was fun and I may do another for some of the other Flames players.

I did wonder this myself. There are lots of veteran players who have no interest in going through a rebuild or retool. I don’t see Lindholm taking anything less than say 7.5 but he might be asking for more from Calgary to endure the displeasure of having to lose more than you win, assuming more roster players are dealt.

I think if Necas and Pesce both signed for say 5 x 5.5 necas and 4 x 5 Pesce (ballpark figures, maybe a touch higher), you include your first and either Drury or Heimo or Blake then the Leafs would have to say yes to that. I know Pesce hasn’t had a great year but he’s been a solid D for many years. Necas won’t produce like Nylander but he can put up 60 - 70 points on the 2nd line.
Plus the prospect and first can be flipped in a package to another team to upgrade goaltending (possibly Saros or Vejmelka) and another D. If you can do all that with one trade for Nylander plus another couple picks and prospects you’d be a fool not to.
