Depends on how they view that contract and his health long term coupled with Pinto's outbreak. If you dont think he can stay healthy, you trade him for positive value while you can. If you think Pinto is going to pass him, you still need to consider it.
This is a player on his 3rd shoulder surgery who has only produced at a 70 point pace 1 time and has a career pace of 55 points per 82 games. He has missed 122 games over the past 3 seasons (49.5%). They can either sit on that contract and hope he rebounds and that Pinto doesnt surpass him or holding onto him doesnt keep Pinto from flourishing so they can have their cake and eat it too or they can try and get some/anything for a broken player before the contract might possibly look even worse because if he does get passed by Pinto in the roster his production will likelh drop further.

If marner doesnt perform in playoffs
As a Nashville fan, i personally dont have any interest in Marner. We have much bigger needs and tieing up that much cap at RW will hinder us from fixing those needs.

I like Laine and everything
But i wouldn't give you one of our best prospects for him since he can never stay healthy then you chuck on Gudbranson's contract as well.... pass by nashville

Too much money on RV considering his injury status/history.

At that cost, i may take a shot at Norris. His buyout is never unreasonable throughout the years and we really could use a center. If he could get healthy and stay healthy, it would have high payoff potential but alot of risk.

If Clayton Keller doesnt want to go to Utah what would a trade look like
I would suspect nashville would have interest. Not sure what Arizona would want though. With Keller we would have a surplus of wing prospects so one or two of them (tomasino, kemell, wood) would need to go. Would you be interest in a saros + tomasino + wood for keller + vejmelka? Or are your needs more defense based in which case... best i can offer is based around Lauzon, Fabbro, and Del Gaizo... not exactly as enticing.

POV someone is GM
Nashville gets a more enticing offer elsewhere. We dont really have much need for more RW prospects (we have Evangelista, Tomasino, Kemell, Wood, Fink, and going off our likely draft position this year probably another one in 2024) so Lucius isnt helpful at all. Acciari is roster filler and the 1st is in 2025.

Semi-realistic offseason
NSH already has a big RHD named Schenn to play that 3rd pairing. There is no need for Risto.

Slight Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Robinho3799</b></div><div>Kings better keep their 2nd rounder, save a lot of cap space and sign Nedeljkovic for half of what Jarry is getting for 4 more years.
I wonder what the Predators Fans think about the trade for Saros. Heard they want multiple first rounders + a top six winger.</div></div>
I think Trotz' ask is ridiculous but this offer isnt it.
Rakell's contract doesnt move the needle for Nashville. He isnt good enough to be desirable as an immediate must have upgrade to push aside prospects like Evangelista and the contract just goes on for years....
Nieto is waiver fodder
So it is basically Pickering and a couple 2nds. Im just not high enough on Pickering to see this as a good deal. Plus LHD isnt really the place we need more prospects at.
Overall whether or not the value is there doesnt matter if the pieces arent right.

2024 Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Which is why I expect NJD to simply pay a standard 2025 1st+sweetener package for Ullmark.
The hope with swayman comes from the history of guys who go through the arbitration process. They rarely stay long term if they don't have a long term contract done that offseason. (80% are gone within 2 years)
One of the rare exceptions comes from Nashville in Weber, but he signed an offer sheet with another team, so I wouldn't exactly count him as "staying"</div></div>
Ullmark just depends on his NTC. 15 team no trade list. Markstrom kindof the same deal. Not sure where these goalies are willing to move to or where the GMs are willing to move the goalies to.

2024 Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Yeah Mercer would only be on the market for Swayman. As good as Saros has been, the goalie aging curve is not kind to goalies into their mid 30s</div></div>
Agreed. Swayman's size would also help too. Even though saros has excelled over the years at 5'11" people still worry about his size and as he ages and loses speed that actually might begin to become more of an issue. 3 years younger and 6'2" Swayman would probably get a bigger haul but i doubt Boston would ever consider trading him.

2024 Offseason
It is what Trotz' wants and i think it is too much. Casey and a 1st should be the high end of what we get in my opinion unless there is a bidding war for Saros. Even then Mercer being included would be all sorts of overpay.
Stamkos isnt going anywhere.
Too much per year on March but right contract length.

Looking at them
From Nashville’s perspective: id rather have the equivalent value in an already developed prospect instead of having to start from square 1 all over again. This is what bothered me about the pick to begin with, saros appeared to be a legit starter. Why spend such a high pick on another goalie when there were other organizational needs? Couldve had a mercer, jarvis, or Lundell.
Personally, id pass and see what i can get for saros and run with Askarov at this point. We have invested so much time and resources into him... we might as well use him
