What NYR will most likely do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ItsBreach</b></div><div>jeannot will take a lot less than that. unless some team is crazy high on him, i don't see that happening. he has 13 points in nearly 50 games. i don't see any teams giving a first for that. i could maybe see a second at best, but odds are he'll go for a third and either a low tier nhl player or a prospect (which in this case is shown above)</div></div>
Nashville doesnt have to trade Jeannot, Poile and Hynes love Jeannot, unless Nashville actually gets something worthwhile Jeannot stays. So odds are he is in Nashville next season

3 cap dumps and a late 1st is nowhere near ekholm at half price for 3.5 seasons. Even the biggest homer has to realize this proposal is just terrible.

As a Nashville fan, im not opposed to trading any of those assets and the price is fair enough.... BUT nashville cant afford to extend larkin and isnt in a place to spend anything of significance on a rental. If we could figure out how to make things work long term without having to pay to dump contracts, then im game.

His QO is 3M. If he's willing to do a 1 year 2M deal id like a shot at him. Im unsure if chistyakov will ever leave russia so im ok trading him and a 4th is whatever. As a nashville fan, im fine with it but i think its probably more than he is currently worth

Preds deadline idea
So trade Fabbro for puljujarvi who likely doesnt get his QO only to turn around and trade Novak who plays center and has been more productive than Puljujarvi at a fraction of the cost to replace Fabbro
Seems pretty circular and self defeating. Its at best a lateral move while trading two thirds to get a 2nd round pick. Meanwhile we get more expensive.

Given Meier's age id be ok with trading young assets for him but Nashville cant support another big contract longterm and this would put them in a terrible position going into the offseason

The best part of the return for askarov is the 2025 1st round pick and no way Nashville trades askarov for magic beans 3 drafts from now

I must be missing something about the Vancouver prospect that makes downgrading defensively from Ekholm to Ekman-Larsson worthwhilr for Nashville. From a cursory glance, this looks like a bad deal for Nashville

Acceptable basis for vancouver trade - READ DESCRIPTION
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>You'd have to pay even more to move him if that's the case.</div></div>
Likely which is why it doesnt make sense to me as a consideration. Horvat likely cost 7-8 million going forward (which is dicey since this will only be the 2nd time hes broken 60 points in his career) but either way requires atleast a granlund/ekholm/McDonagh/johansen sized contract going the other way. Otherwise, he's a rental and Nashville isnt ib the position to get a rental. Even witb horvat we probably miss the playoffs.

Acceptable basis for vancouver trade - READ DESCRIPTION
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boldirev</b></div><div>A Boeser trade probably involves Fabbro and maybe some short term cap balancing, but a Horvat trade almost certainly involves a first and a prospect at minimum. The fact that Nashville is reportedly "in" on Horvat means they are OK with that.</div></div>
To me that says that poile is delusional as to the state of the team. Nashville isnt a horvat away from being a cup team.

Acceptable basis for vancouver trade - READ DESCRIPTION
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>A Johansen-Horvat trade makes zero sense</div></div>
Nashville needs a center upgrade - vancouver wants to keep horvat but dont want to pay him the money. Vancouver ownership wants to be competitive. As i said in the description, just the basis of a trade. Definitely would need tweaks. Nashville has to send out equal cap to make things work.

Preds
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>And you're still new here. Every time a blogger or writer covering a Canadian team mentions the Preds, there are hundreds of essentially the same proposals from those fan bases on here. When the Preds hadn't re-signed Forsberg or Ekholm yet, there were dozens of daily proposals that started with "What would TOR need to add to Kerfoot and Engvall to get both Forsberg and Ekholm at max retention?".
Even worse was the year of Habs fans insisting that NSH would have to send them equivalent of four 1sts for Weber, otherwise he would retire, costing NSH billions in cap penalties.</div></div>
Id like to propose a feature for capfriendly that allows you to filter out trades from certain teams or involve certain players. I really enjoy looking at the trades involving nashville but recently every trade feom vancouver either involves fabbro and garland or nashvilles best prospects for horvat. Neither of which make sense for nashville.

Yeh that was questionable on their end but they did that even before he stared his last season on current contract. Should tell you something about the player if they arent willing to even bet on themselves a little

Would depend on how he played. Could hopefully talk him down for a 1 year prove it at a cheaper rate.

Are these fair trades for all teams involved
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCGuy</b></div><div>But if Horvat was extended?</div></div>
Dont have the capspace for horvat this season and definitely dont have enough for horvat next season. Any trade would have to be centered around Joahnsen or Granlund going back. Only way nashville would send more than 1 first is if Canucks took Johansen's full contract with a smile. We arent a cup competitive team at this point in time and spending any good futures should be off the table.

Unless the price was centered around granlund or johansen, i dont see why nashville would do this. They arent in a position to spend futures. The team is simply just not good enough and horvat doesnt fix that.

You do realize askarov is 20 and not the current backup for nashville right? We have lankinen and askarov only got to play last nught due to lankinen being ill. We have all sorts of time to develop since we have saros.
Now we could talk harris/carrier/fabbro swaps but askarov is still off the table and nashville doesnt need allen.

Only benefit here to nashville would be opening up cap and roster space next season and thats only if they dont qualify puljujarvi. I think if they wanted to move on from sissons and trenin theyd try to get back some value as theyre both good utility players that can PK and sissons is a good faceoff player and can also play wing.
