lol Grit is 5'11 192lb. thats solid for an NHLer especially with his speed.

Your RHD depth is Tanev (who will be traded most likely), Andersson, and Pachal who you just got on waivers. You most certianly do need NHL caliber RHD.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HShockey</b></div><div>I think Hanifin gets a tad bit more (CGY offered him 7.5 which he nearly accepted according to reports). Also Markstrom deal might be a slight overpay (isn't Marino a legit T4 D-man)?</div></div>
Well I broke it down in my description at the top, but the logic is that the entire trade is broken up into two. Marino is sent to CGY to upgrade to an extended Hanifin. Marino himself, as with numerous players, are an absolute shell of themselves. Players like him and Siegthaler have been horrible in comparison to last year. Plus, having Dougie, the emergence of Nemec, and Miller being an excellent 3rd pairing guy (who we can probably resign for cheap), I think Marino is expendable.

totally fair criticism. I still think he is expendable though with Nemec showing to be way more NHL-ready than we expected. We all know Dougie isn't going anywhere, and I doubt we have a desire to pay over $4mil to a guy on the 3rd pairing.
EDIT: Also considering we could use that $ towards Mercer/Hughes extensions.

A mid-1st round pick and (now) A prospect not good enough? Vitek is just a throw in for contract reasons. You can flip him to someone else for more assets.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Keep Marino!</div></div>
Why? Dougie will be back, Nemec has exploded onto the scene and will only improve, and Miller has been better. Marino has taken a legitimate step backward this year.
Out of the 8 defensemen on this roster, this is where Marino ranks:
Corsi = 46% (6th)
Fenwick = 44% (7th)
On-ice Goals % = 36.1 (8th)
On-ice Expected Goals Against/60 min = 3.63 (8th)
On-ice High Danger Shot Attempts Against/60 min = 3.87 (6th)
I do like Marino...actually, I loved him last year. I get that some of these numbers will be skewed due to bad goaltending, but he has been without a doubt a massive defensive liability which is the exact opposite of what we need from him. Give Nemec his 2nd pairing role and move him to help fulfill a different need (such as the Swayman extension).

The biggest issue with your team is:
1) Jeannot will not go for that low
2) You need long term cap to afford Hagels next contract
3) You are not resigning Killorn in your GM, even though we all know Tampa will
