Taking advantage of the Leafs fire sale
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lambchopz</b></div><div>A hypothetical “fire sale” involves trading their top guns, not solid bottom 6 pieces for minor scraps</div></div>
Perhaps Kampf would be a better player to fill the Canucks' needs but I happen to like Engvall. As to the fire sale.......
The Leafs will be moving at least 2 of Marner, Nylander, Kerfoot, Kampf and Holl.
They should also try to move Tavares, Muzzin and Reilly but age and the NTCs and NMCs will make that difficult.
THE ONLY $11 MILLION PLAYER ON THAT TEAM IS MATTHEWS!

Why not? Are we afraid they'll mis out on another Dan Woodley, Jason Herter. Alex Stojanov, Libor Polasek, Nathan Smith, or Patrick White? Draft picks, even first rounders, are always a gamble. When taking established NHLers you know what you are getting. The Canucks would have to decide whether they would rather gamble or take a young (24) RHD WITH 185 NHL games and a RW who is competent, albeit some what overpaid. Perhaps there is another Patrik Stefan out there?

Is Forsberg going to be there next year? You don't want to part with Fabbro? I'd take Myers, Kondelik a first and a sixth instead, or perhaps Carrier, Kondelik, a first and a third.

Not even sure I would do Matthews for Demko...straight up. There are lots of good goal scorers but there are few elite goalies.

which JT Miller package is best
Why the retention? If teams want Miller it is up to them to clear cap space or offer something incredibly good.
None of these deals are good enough for retention IMO. All of them would require either another prospect or pick.
Any 4 of those players might be good enough to retain salary.
The Canucks won't trade Miller to get rid of him. Cap space and his age would be the drivers behind a Miller trade.

top ten scorer to Avs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>COL doesn’t do either of them one for one for Miller. Miller is a 2nd line player in COL like it or not. Not a chance in hell they get either of them.</div></div>
With Landeskog out for knee surgery, possibly for the season, perhaps Miller's value to the Avs increases.
They are legit cup contenders right now and if they want to stay that way they should probably replace Gabe.
If he comes back, JT is more than just a complimentary player.
Not asking for Byram or Newhook, or centering the trade on any one player, Just want a number of good to very good prospects and a first. I believe Miller is well worth this package.
Where Bednar plays him is his decision.

Dallas Miller-Harley trade
Either add Hakanpaa or take out Hamonic. Miller is worth Harley, Johnston and a first. Swapping Radulov for Hamonic doesn't quite work for Van so sweeten the deal or forget about Hamonic

Canucks don't need or want another undersized LHD. Let's try Mittelstadt, Peterka and a 2022 4th and a 2023 2nd.

Canucks Deadline
Don't think it's worth taking a chance on any player who is playing in Russia right now. Things might change, but I doubt they change enough by March 21st. Besides I don't think the Canucks are retaining anything on that package.
Miller is worth more than a 1st and a 2nd and players with only 45 games of NHL experience between them, neither of whom is even in the NHL right now. I think something more like N. Lundkvist, M. Robertson, M. Barron and a 2022 2nd plus a 2023 1st. 2023 is supposed to be a better crop of prospects. Or Barron, Schneider and a 2023 1st?

Not even close. The Canucks aren't retaining. I don't mind Vaakanainen, absolutely no interest in Wagner. If you don't want to part with at least on more "A" prospect, it'd cost a 2022 1st, a 2023 1st and a 2023 2nd. The Bruins are an old team with an outside shot at the Cup. Miller and Schenn would certainly help but they aren't gonna be that cheap.

Miller to Bruins

Not really, but he has said that he wasn't happy in Boston. The only roster players I think the Canucks would be interested in, without some kind of NMC, are Frederick <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>If I’m Boston Lysell is off the table unless you want to talk Elias.

Fine. No Miller for the Bruins. The Rangers probably offer at least that much value. Just thought they might like a shot at the Cup. 7 of your top nine are 30 or older so there's about a 2 year window and that's it for a couple of years.
