I'm not a fan personally of giving up big assets for rentals but teams do it every year so we will see.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>NTC Parayko says no to Vancouver. Don't know if Sens can afford the cap difference. Almost giving Garland away...at least on the ice value, but maybe the long term cap is the reason.
Going to be interesting for Horvat's value. Depends on how may teams are looking for a rental centre. Seems like a steep price to me.</div></div>
Parayko and Zaitsevs NTC's make the trades difficult. I haven't looked at Ott's situation but I'm sure they could squeeze out a mil.
Long term cap is definitely the reason for Garland. Many Canuck fans will disagree but I really don't think he brings much to the team, and that extra almost 5mil in the year Petterson expires is worth taking a hit for on ice value.
Imo the bare minimum for Horvat is a first and a prospect. Thats what Giroux got and he could effectively only be traded to one team.

It's not so much they won't move the pick, but moreso the return not being a half season rental (at least not for a 1st rd pick)</div></div>
Makes sense. You guys managed to do it for Lehk last year so I don't doubt Sakic/McFarlane are capable of it. I guess it becomes a question of who is available and if your FO are willing to be patient and potentially not make a deal.

An ok prospect and effectively a second for a sure-fire top 6 C?
Look at the deadline deals from the last couple of years and that's a pretty fair price. Whether you want to pay that is another question but I don't think its laughable.

The only questionable return is Demko.
A 1st + prospect is pretty fair value for a rental player like Horvat if you look at the last couple years' deadlines.
Kuzmenko says "RETURN DOESNT MATTER" its all about sending him somewhere he wants to go to maintain a good relationshop.
Schenn for 2 3rds - I mean Hamonic returned a 3rd rounder and he had a way worse contract + no one on the Canucks wanted him.

Rangers fans - I literally said any return - the first was a place holder so dont come @ me with Kuz and worth a first.
Avs fans - Swap Newhook for another prospect if you want, I'm not high on him at all. 1st + prospect is pretty fair value for a rental player of Horvat's Caliber (see Chiarot, Toffoli, Giroux, Foligno, etc trades).
For the Devils. - I thought with how Demko has been playing this year that it would be a tough sell. I think his back is broken from carrying the Canucks but he had a lot of hype last year as a vezina caliber goalie and is on a great contract. Other pieces (1st+) would work.

I simply said they will come in screeching “Marino or no deal” because that’s what they always do in any trade involving Miller, Boeser, or Garland. I think it’s silly that the Canucks would be willing to give up Garland for anything so soon tbh. I think they will stick with him for now.</div></div>
Fair enough.
I agree with you on Garland. He was really good to start the year, is locked up long term, and we paid a pretty penny to get him.
Imo Miller and/or Boeser get moved before him unless someone really blows us out of the water with a Garland deal.

That second is probably ~ 20 ish spots higher than the third the Canucks are sending back, thats minimal value.
Garland has a higher career PPG, and is signed long term whereas Heinen is due for a raise.
It would be a really terrible trade for the Canucks.

Canucks fans aren't gonna screech that but why on earth would the Canucks make the proposed trade?
You say no way the pens give away Kapanen for free then expect the Canucks to do that with Garland

can they afford to resign kadri
They can buy they shouldn't.
Kadri is rocking an insane on ice shooting percentage that will regress. Signing him to a contract based off this year is a foolish move you're better off letting another GM do

Florida is the best candidate for a Chychrun deal
This is a good proposal because it really makes you think.
The pieces Florida are moving aren't impact players this year so it definitely gears them up for a cup run. However, Knight is a very hard piece to give up and having him cost controlled as an insurance policy against Bob's 10mil would be huge as well.

If you would want Pearson for late picks I would do that.
I was trying to keep this AGM small so didn't want to do a Boeser or Garland deal
