I would've had them signing a left d if one was on the market but there isn't really so hamonic or someone else moves to the other side in this scenario.

Where each team will be placed for the next 10 years
I think Chicago could be sneaky. I really like Kirby Dach. I also think that Vancouver might end up in the two or more cups category. They are being really smart and waiting to build the team around the big contracts to Hughes and Pettersson rather than doing what the Leafs did and building the team before the contracts.

Shesterkin Andersen goalie combo, and I would try to fit William Nylander simply because I love his cap hit but nicely done overall.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NLidstrom</b></div><div>Just eyeballing it, it seems like most of the better deals were signed before the player became a star? Fiala for sure, Coots too, Vrana was a bridge deal. Dadanov and Barrie seemed to take less due to the cap situation.
But I do agree, big money long term deals aren’t always worth it.</div></div>
Yes, Fiala and Coots are worth much more than their contracts, probably Werenski, McAvoy, and Reilly as well to an extent. But I think you can still make a dynasty type team without any superstar players, or big money players.

My canadian division standing predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>I said most balanced not most skilled. Your top 9 certainly has more elite forwards but a lot of them are horrible defensively. Our top 9 can score and plays defensively well.</div></div>
Hyman great defensively, Matthews very solid defensively (you just seem to get more press for your offense when you score fourty goals), Marner again solid defensively kills penalties, Mikheyev solid defensively kills penalties, Tavares average defensively, Nylander nope, Robertson nope, Kerfoot solid kills penalties, Simmonds solid forechecker.
Not sure that top nine is as terrible defensively as you might think. Last year the Leafs were terrible in their own zone because aside from Muzzin, Rielly, and at times Holl (though Holl hasn't prooved himself) everybody else was better on the offensive side of the puck, Barrie and Ceci were huge defensive liabilities meaning that two thirds of the time the Leafs had a defense man that could easily be exploited. That's been mostly fixed this year.

My canadian division standing predictions
I feel like all these standing refuse to admit that on paper the Leafs actually have the best roster. They've been the best Canadian team in the regular season for the past few years (average not every year), I don't see them not winning a Canadian division. The Flames could challenge, and the Jets might make a push. But I don't see any of the other teams really contending for top spot.

Also, I don’t think they’re done. I believe they want to get one if Montour/Miller out, and add a LHD and Goalie to tandem with Ullmark.</div></div>
Gotta love that first powerplay unit though. But yeah the atlantic is too good this year.

Let's just reverse our problems shall we. Let's create a team with the best defense in the league that has only three people who can score.
We need balance good offense good defense, not one or the other.

I think this is a borderline team, I'm not sure about the goaltending. Better teams include: Flyers, Penguins, Capitals, Hurricanes, Bruins, Lightning, Blue Jackets, Canadiennes, Islanders, and possibly Panthers.
I don't think this is a playoff team.

Wouldnt this be epic
I would be careful in moving Laf to centre, while he might be able to make the switch I don't think you want to do that in his first year.
If he plays centre and then his production isn't there and then he loses confidence that could spiral, I think you play him at the position that he is comfortable with and then make the move when he's ready and proven to himself that he can produce at the NHL level.

Toronto additions: Brodie, Simmonds, Bogosian coupled with Campbell from last season address the needs that everyone has been bringing up against them.
Montreal: Josh Anderson, Tyler Toffoli, and emerging Kotkaniemi, and Suzuki.
Both teams to me have taken leaps and bounds by addressing their weaknesses.

Last year

What I expect for this year
Chara - McAvoy
Grz - Carlo
Zboril - Lauzon
Sure some guys are getting older, but on the flip side those younger guys have more experience and should continue to develop. Studnicka is a guy that should make the NHL club this year and looked really good in the playoffs but we'll see what happens. I don't see a huge drop off, but I don't expect them have the best record next year either.
As for Rask, if Boston felt like he wasn't going to return (and he's spoken with Sweeney) they would have gone out and acquired a #1 goalie to go with Halak. Seeing as they didn't, it tells me that Rask is playing next season.</div></div>
The Bruins just don't scare me as much this year, and as a Leafs fan with the trauma of two game seven exits in a row that takes a lot for me to say.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>Do they really get worse? I mean with 63/88 out to start the season it'll hurt, but right now it looks like nearly the same team is returning + Craig Smith (whose an upgrade). They lost their PP specialist in Krug, but I don't think the PP will take a huge hit. I personally don't think some of the additions other teams in the division have made have been earthshattering.</div></div>
It's not just the losses to me that hurt.
First, the defense: McAvoy, Carlo, Miller, Moore, Lauzon, etc. Is that a contender level defense?
Second, Bergeron isn't getting younger, neither is Krejci and they are both approaching the age where a drop off in play is expected.
Third, Is Rask coming back, if he isn't Boston is royally screwed.
I'm not saying they aren't good, but I am saying is that I don't think they are a lock for top two in the Atlantic.

Yet neither of these teams will catch us or Tampa.</div></div>
I think a team could catch Boston this year, especially if Pasta or Marchand is out, your defense doesn't look as strong without Krug (a signing could make that better). Boston is also ageing, I really think that a team like Toronto, or (longshot) Montreal could catch a banged up Bruins. I mean without Marchand and Pasta where does your scoring come from?
