far easier said than done
they gotta resign meier to be able to trade him and i bet he'll want a long-term deal with lots of $$$
lots of teams won't want to take on that long-term amount of $$$

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>I'm talking about in general it's not a great idea to pick a goalie that early. You're talking about him like he's some kind of steal. The players drafted after him have been more impactful. He wasn't a steal.</div></div>
Tyler Boucher - less than PPG in the OHL in his D+2 year (i think? i always mix up D0 and D+1). 10th overall
Cole Sillinger - having some struggles in the NHL in his second year, and had 31pts in 79 GP in his first season. maybe not better than Wallstedt cuz it's tricky to compare skaters and goalies. 12th overall
Sebastian Cossa - sitting in the ECHL with a 2.90 GAA and 0.896 SV% in 27 GP. when he was in the AHL, he was 5.57 GAA and 0.783 SV% in 3 GP. 15th overall
Fedor Svechkov - 8 pts in 4 GP in the MHL, 7 pts in 14 GP in the VHL. again, difficult to compare skaters and goalies, but Wallstedt may have the edge here. 19th overall
definitely not a steal by any means just yet, but a good pick for sure

2022-23 NHL Season Discussion Thread #9: Bruce, There it Goes
Here's what I think about the Horvat trade.
Isles get a solid 1C-caliber player who can, and probably will, play in the top six at C in Horvat.
Canucks get a middle-six caliber young-ish player in Beauvillier. They also get a high-end centre prospect who could replace Horvat eventually if they dont screw up his development in Raty, as well as a first round pick.
Today, the Canucks win the trade. No question about that. Beauvillier could still bounce back and become a top six guy, Raty could definitely become a second line centre, and they get a probable 2024 1st round pick. Horvat's also definitely not scoring this much again
however, i think that the islanders may be able to scrape something out of this deal if they can sign Horvat to something reasonable like a 7x7. they'll get a good 2C for a long period of time and could maybe uh
yeah no i think the canucks made out like bandits in this trade but dont quote me on this

i dont think there's a use in it, just because of the value that price holds to the team. he still comes to games often and is a leader in presence

whatever he'd get in a trade would be much more valuable to the nucks than whatever he's gonna help them with in the next two seasons. not like theyre gonna contend at any point soon lmao, the team stinks
additionally, what do you yourself get out of responding individually to every person who said the kuzmenko signing doesn't make sense

value-wise the contract is fine, but it makes zero sense for them to resign kuzmenko when they could've gotten a haul for him... which is what they need to do

i know that he's small, but i think because of the sheer amount of talent that he has, he'll stay in the top ten. being 1.7 PPG in the WHL is very impressive.
however, cole caufield (and juraj slafkovsky, to an extent) is a living example of why size matters in drafts, so we'll see

2023 locks are starting to fall into place
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>Fantilli isn't a lock imo. Carlsson has probably been as good. Michkov still has an actual possibility of being 2nd OA.</div></div>
he's at 1.5 PPG (33p in 20gp, good for 6th in the league) in the NCAA as a first-year guy (i think. i have no clue how the US junior leagues work) with a 53 FO%.
carlsson's at 0.57 PPG (17p in 30gp, good for t-75th in the league) in an admittedly more difficult league, and that's on a team that's 5th in the league.
i don't think that fantilli is a lock, but i think there's a pretty good chance that he's gonna be the guy at 2. 3 & 4 is where uncertainty is, because michkov could definitely be going 2nd overall if he wasn't stuck in the KHL, and in russia. but carlsson's been really good so it's difficult to say who'll go at 3

lots of people know he's good, but not enough people know how good he is.
He's 19 points away from matching his point total from last season... and he still has 29 games to do it
He's at 81 points in 33 games... a whopping <strong>2.45</strong> points per game
Currently, he's on pace for <strong>167</strong> points over a full season... but he missed 6(?) games because of the WJC, which brings that total down to 152, which is still insane
He's also on pace for <strong>80 GOALS</strong> over a full season, with 1.18 goals per game, but because of the WJC, his current pace will get him to 73
He's also +26 on a terrible Pats team
