This is a classic case of having no attention span or patience. A remnant of the Bowman era in CHI. This is a massive overpayment for Marner to begin with, one that I would rather a rebuilding CHI team just keep.
Rinzel is a monster and was arguably better than Levshunov, in what was also his rookie NCAA season and he is only a little over a year older than Levshunov. I think people overlook those details.
Reichel had a bad season after putting on a large amount of weight last summer and being thrust into a top 6 center role in the NHL which he was not ready for and, frankly, shouldn't be anyway. Reichel is still a VERY good prospect that CHI should be nowhere near giving up on. He fits KD's vision of the way he wants this team to play and could be a huge part of CHI's future as far as production, style, and where he fits in the cap structure.
And then you want to add two 1st round picks on top of that??? For one year of a nearly 28 year old at an already massive cap hit who will be commanding a raise and term, who regularly chokes in the playoffs, who will be on the wrong side of 30 and likely in decline by the time CHI is actually ready to contend? I don't see it.
If we are going to spend like this, at least go after someone like Jarvis, or a player of similar age and caliber that is under control for a while longer and fits CHI's timeline more closely.
