<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>I’ve honestly lost patience to address the same regurgitated and unoriginal claims over and over again. There’s quite honestly nothing to suggest Caufield is more valuable than Zegras, and you can go read discussion on that in probably 150 MTL ACGMs with some version of your trade. I’m not going to do it here yet again because you’re too lazy to read it elsewhere.
Debrincat was on a team that didn’t want him, or later that he didn’t want. He was on the trade block. Zegras isn’t, Lebrun dispelled that months ago based on multiple sources
You’re asking for a proven multi year 60+ point center on his ELC that isn’t available. If you want him, you don’t get to dictate terms with a bunch of undersized bottom of the lineup crap to a team that has one of the deepest prospect pipelines in the league and then picks that won’t play NHL hockey for at best 2 seasons. The team dictating terms is the one with the asset they value and don’t wish to move. That value has been stated ad nauseam. Rein or ‘24 1st and a Beck/Mesar type. And that’s IF ANA considers moving him at all
And pleeeease. I challenge you before you make your next argument. Go look at even just a couple MTL Zegras posts first (I have to specify MTL, because there are no ANA Zegras posts.. I wonder why). I can guarantee you whatever you’re about to say has been said, likely >100 times. There’s a reason it hasn’t convinced a single (and I mean not 1) ANA fan</div></div>
Name me where u see any mtl trades sending away caufield suzuki slafkovsky it doesnt happen but once a rumour surfaces about a star on a team trade proposals flood capfriendly but unlike u i understand a fair offer yes my offer was more quanity then actual quality but I even explained what id expect for caufield and lots can agree both players are similar in value

Rutger and david has 2 different profiles and RHD are more valuable then Lhw

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>You know an abundance of intelligence is about to follow the opening comment ‘people are so stupid’ 🤡
Zegras has 2 60+ point seasons (how many does Caufield have?). This season he was injured in camp (same injury that kept Couture out all year). The only healthy games he played at full minutes were the final 8 games of the year where he produced 1.0 pt/g. Absolutely comical to target the dude in a trade and then try to talk down his performance 🤣
Zegras is currently a lock in ANA’s top 6. He’s one of our only 2 top 6 LWs with Gauthier, and has center flexibility that’s already come in handy with Leo/McT injuries
Zero ANA fans have said 5 firsts. You somehow missed (not exaggerating) 6 months and ~1,000 MTL posts targeting Zegras with this feedback. You don’t move a staple top 6 player and open up a hole unless you’re filling a more important one. Here’s what you offered:
Harris - Zero interest in ANA, they don’t fit Verbeek’s vision and he’s not valuable anyway
Farrell - see above
Kony - see above
Hein - we’ll give you ~4th rd pick
‘25 1st - Not interesting. We’re trying to exit a rebuild not start one.
‘25 2nd - see above
Easiest way to see why this is dumb. Ana offers you Max Jones, Isaac Lundestrom, Brayden Tracey, a ‘25 1st and 2nd for Slafkovsky. Thoughts?
Reinbacher+ or ‘24 1st+. Not interested? Awesomeee. Please move on to a topic that hasn’t been completely exhausted on this platform. For someone with little patience for stupidity, you can get every single piece of this feedback on hundreds of MTL ACGMs without having to type a thing</div></div>
You are aware that slafs value is way higher then zegras right? 😂
And your telling me two top line talents for 2nd line zegras? Not gonna happen.
1ppg to end the season ornt he ended the season with under 0.5pts ur asking for quality of quantity well zegras hasnt show hes a elite top line center. Look what debrincat got he was a 2 time 40g scorer and didnt even get a haul so the fact u expect 1 top line talents is crazy
I mean i get what your saying but cmon like be for real. Caufield is better then zegras but if he was getting moved id ask for a top 10 first B prospect and top 6 Rw

And what u want 5 first for him. We all know the future top 6 of anahiem doesnt have zegras in it
Gauthier-Carlsson-Demidov
?-Mctavish-?
?-Gauchier-?
And if ur telling me that zegras is a second line winger then hes value decreases as hesnt a 1rst liner nor center more.
So a top 10 pick
A 2nd rd pick
2 top 9 fwd prospect
A top 4 rhd prospect
And a already established top 6 lhd

Not when Adam Engstrom is a Right Defensman in the top League outside North America and for Team Sweden Even
He plays RD cause his Skating is so smooth it makes PK Subban look like he's Jordan Subban (huge difference in skating levels)
You move him back to LD after spending his junior and pro career on RD at all levels really since he was 16
Then you're most likely to have troubles
Xhekaj-Mailloux are the Twin Terrors and a top 10 AHL Pairing in their time together in Laval. The Perfect Pairing and only one we got.
Reinbacher fits Hutsons needs and Barron fits Guhle's needs until Enstrom or Captain Kony comes over trom the KHL.
Dobson isnt needed as Drafting/Developing Defense is like MTL's only Strength the last decade, trading for Defensman makes no sense unless its a Matheson situation.(something for nothing)
Overall i like the build i just think you got carried away with un needed trades
Wifi-Mailloux will be making fans crazy happy in like 9 months maximum
Guhle-Barron havent been lucky enough to play together much as 1 or the other is injured or in another league or they are both playing RD due to too many LD.
Give those 2 real time together and you'll see Size, Speed, Skill and players capable of 22+ minutes a night while contributing on the PP.
Engstrom could jump ahead in the RD rotation
Overall if we kept our bulk youth and just sold the Mathesons, Harris's , Struble's, ext who are going to be UFA's in 1-2 years or arent Waiver Exempt anymore but arent an NHL lock either in our deep system with 4 players in their final years of Waiver Exempt status beside them. We need to move out players and make sure the minutes are there to highlight pending ufa's for max value while also creating space gradually over a season for younger players rather then running them 16 minutes as a standard then 20-22 mins after that like we did Matheson with mixed results
Guhle-Barron
Xhekaj-Mailloux
Hutson-Reinbacher(when ready they'll flip with 2nd pair )
Engstrom or Konyuskov aka Captain Kony the 22 year old KHL stud D who will be joining us around then
Thats before we consider the bond 6'4 AHL Joel Edmudnson equivelant Paquette-Bisson and his chemistry with Reinbacher
We cant forget Houle and our AHL systems been finding us guys like Arber Xhekaj as well as developing us players who actually make the NHL unlike years past .
Some like Perrick Dube leave for other teams but some like Paquette-Bisson stay hoping to continue their growth
MTL on Defense has so many options that acquiring one makes no sense</div></div>
besides d what do u think of the trades and forward/drafts

He's always been incredibly talented but was played into the ground in Florida then was a monster in Pittsburgh by every metric.
I dont think the Habs should trade him for magic beans. I do realize 95% of everyone here would rather trade every decent player for a 1st round pick but that isnt a great strategy as Mtl found out with Arturi Lehkonen for a 1st and 2nd which many called too much at the 2022 TDL yet he's irreplaceable in Colorado, today!
Matheson is also irreplaceable in Montreal and I dont think Kent Hughes is going to give away another foundational piece just to make a trade for magic beans.
This a cap league and a top pair D at 4.8M with term and still young. You dont trade that kind of known asset. Hronek is going to get 7M AAV in Vancouver.
Matheson is an absolute steal right now at that AAV.</div></div>
Im a habs fan and i agree with him being better then gos but at the same time hes a top 5 minute logger in the whole league.
Hes not great defensively but not bad either as hes mtls #1 and plays against every teams top lines and pp.
And with hutson and playoffs in the hunt id trade matheson for the best offer to package the top value return parts for a possible demidov Lindstrom necas zegras and johnston

Gibson has just plain not been good these last few years, weather that's because of the ducks in a rebuild or if he is just regressing I don't know, all I know is that we don't want him, we have Skinner
frankly the signings are okay, personally not a fan of Cousins and want nothing to do with him and his play
and that Nurse buyout is sure something</div></div>
Honestly watching gentzul this season shows he doesnt need crosby and is the best fa available with hyman turning into a beast infront of the net another star playmaker would fill out that top 6 and just get a checking grinder bottom 6.
Cousins is a nasty player but imagine him and perry same line all season just gross for the ops.
Nurse is solid top 4 dmen but at that cap id rather give that money to a better impact forward.
I also understands this kinda ****s up the d but who can u get for better contracts then a solid top 6 dmen in savard who blocks shots kills penalties a good vet cup winning leader. And zadorov i just took the big checking type of dmen maybe theres a better shutdown option.
Ifnt giby is vatrano still a good top 6 option, might me a new hyman for a playmake like rnh and dri.
Pickard also proved to be a good fringe backup this year might of over stepped.

Harris is a young lhd rfa controlled plays both side of the ice. Towards the end of the season his game took a bigger step with offence and defence. Real solid top 6 d for his career.
Evans is really good and cheap for his role he pks wins draws and is defensively minded. If he wasnt playing with scraps i feel as if he can hit 40 points with top 9 minutes hes pretty fast and good on the rush.
