I've been on here a bunch saying I think there's something to be done between the Hawks and Isles about either/both Lee and JPG. I don't think they have any interest in Wahlstrom though. I think picks are the way to go. They want to develop their own players first...and rightfully so.

I don't think the Hawks want either of those pieces. We do like LC though. If any team wants the Hawls to take cap...it'll cost them.

Not happening my man. KK is part of our long term future. Not even straight up. We're not in a position to becoming barely playoff eligible. Rebuilds take time. No short cuts.

I am curious (just for curious sakes...no serious either) would ANA want to trade up? What would they give? Again...like you mention. Not serious, but just curious.

I think the Canes will find room for Necas. Their defense will drop one or two of Skjei/Pesce/Chatfield. They have Morrow and Nikishin who are both very good D prospects.

I don't see the Canes trading Necas. They have the cap space and at least on the defensive end...they have 2 really good prospects coming up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>SKA is very particular about who they put on their KHL roster and very methodical about development. Think of the Blackhawks in the cup era, how many kids couldn't crack the lineup simply because they were kids, how many prospects were moved prematurely because they couldn't get ice time under Q. That is SKA. Michkov didn't get any time either, he essentially had to demand a loan to get KHL ice time. Also, Demidov won a spot on the KHL roster out of camp in the 22-23 season OVER Michkov.
KHL clubs are mostly run by oligarchs and the government. They run everything with an iron fist.</div></div>
I don't follow the KHL super closely, but I thought I heard somewhere that the Michkov training camp stuff was trying to get Michkov to sign a longer term deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>Both teams decline.</div></div>
Curious to get you guys thoughts on a slightly different subject. Powers wrote an article in which Roman Kantserov (his interpreter really) mentions that St. Petersburg SKA doesn't appear to be all that willing to let Demidov go to the NHL. How would this...IF TRUE...factor into your draft decision at all?
"Unfortunately, there are some circumstances with St. Petersburg SKA. I would say they’re creating some hurdles for him to come to the NHL and to be selected in the draft. So hopefully it’s all going to be resolved and he get his chance to play in NHL."

I hope each team enjoys their own player. These two teams can't be more opposite. Hawks clearly rebuilding. They're not in a place to be rushing that. EDM clearly trying to win a cup.

As a Hawks fan trying to be fair to both sides. You can probably drop the 4th and 6th. It would be just like the Mrazek trade.

Canes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FoxYou727</b></div><div>remove Reichel and Hawks say yes</div></div>
You're correct on dropping Reichel. I go back/forth on whether the Hawks say yes to accepting KK for a 1st. There are some ironic things that make this interesting. Hawks have (2) years until they'll need to free up cap space. Ironically...it'll be 2 years before KK's buyout jumps from 1/3 to 2/3. So we can give him a chance for 2 years and if it doesn't work out...he'll be bought out and the cap space doesn't really hurt that bad. That stuff all works in favor of the trade (of course like you mentioned no Reichel), but this is counter to what Kyle Davidson was talking about. Getting better and bringing in some veterans. That's not KK. Ultimately, I don't think they pull the trigger AND I don't this CAR would trade away KK just yet either. They'll go do exactly what I outline above too. Play him 2 more years and if he doesn't get better...THEN they'll buy him out.

A No Frills Offseason
I think the hawks will take Faksa for a 2nd. Kyle Davidson has been very consistent when it comes to cap dumps like Faksa. It's a 2nd. He can send something back! Like he did with Jason Dickinson. Maybe taking Entwhistle back would be good? Fast/physical 4th liner. Maybe you can get him to sign a deal that's slide. OR Issak Phillips? Not sure if you need LD prospects. BUT I guess the point is...when it comes to dumps. a 2nd has been the requirement.
Bailey, Dickinson, Zaitsev, Mrazek value was a 2nd, but really it was moving into the 1st.

It's kinda a moot point though. You're asking the Hawks to eat $5M+ in cap and ~$5.7M dollars...it'll cost A LOT more than what you're offering. Signing Bonuses still get paid out.

Get Brooks Orpiks number
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Yes. Washington did it with Brooks Orpik a few years ago (hence the title). They <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/146872">traded him</a> to Colorado along with Grubauer. The Avs bought him out, then he <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/146872">re-signed</a> with Washington. The league looked into it after and found it fell within the rules. And as far as I know, they have yet to patch it up.
Carolina did a similar thing with Philly with DeAneglo, but that was over a longer period.</div></div>
I'm looking into the details to provide proof myself, but I thought of the same thing for John Tavares. His signing bonus is something like 99% of his contract. YES, a player can get traded now and bought out, but it's the return part that I'm hearing is a no go.
The Anthony Deangelo situation was over the 1 year period. Traded July 8th 2022. Signed with CAR July 24th 2023.
