Just as an outsider, I'd imagine Nemec + 10th overall would be a more than fair price for Tkachuk. If an overpayment is needed, probably throw in Holtz? If OTT asks for Mercer as well, maybe have OTT include Greig? I could see Chychrun being included in a much bigger deal too.

Would be a monster trade, but for sure Tkachuk would be worth it, and would look amazing next to J.Hughes.

It would blow to give up Marty but I would do it for this deal coming back to the Caps

I love fehevary but that is a touch too much.

I would do 10th+Bahl+Schmid (or replace Schmid with a 3rd) for Fehevary+17th.

But Holtz for Lindgren and Dowd is a pass.

Also since you claim Holtz doesn't have value, try replacing him in this trade with 2nd and see the reaction change vastly

This is almost as funny as that time as when that other sens fan claimed Marino wasn't good because Pierre Dorian didn't for him and Ron Hextall traded him away, the 2 worst GMs in recent memory.

But again if he's so unvaluable, take him out of the trade. Replace him with a 2nd or 3rd. Clearly more value in your eyes, and NJD would rather keep him. Win win.

I wanted Marino but I never thought he was more than a bottom 4D . Average 2nd pair stop gap, great 3rd pair guy. I thought he would’ve been at least a better stop gap than Hamonic to play with Sanderson on pair 2 last year

Marino had better results in 21-22 and 22-23. Shockingly, when paired with Jake Sanderson, Zubs finally put up better results.

I think a factor you are VASTLY undervaluing is discipline.

Over the last 3 years, John Marino, playing as a shutdown dman who's job is to go out against guys like Pastrnak and McDavid, has DRAWN 8 more PIMS than he hs taken. For comparison, Zub has taken 86 more PIMS than he has drawn.

94 PIM difference there. That impact alone is worth about 11 goals of value, simply off of marino being more disciplined.

I'm not convinced that Holtz is a better long-term bet than Fehervary (and is almost certainly not going to be a more impactful player for WSH next season) so at that point you're giving up Dowd and Lindgren to move from 17 to 10 -- I think there's better options here.

NJD would be very happy to just do Holtz for Fehevary.

If you want to take out Schmid, Bahl, Dowd, Lindgren and the 1sts NJD would honestly be much happier.

or

10th+2nd+3rd (or equivalent assets to those secondary picks) for 17th+Fehevary

ngl I don't love either of those for the Caps. Just think Fehervary is so valuable for them specifically that I can only really see him being moved in a deal for a legit top-line forward. Don't love Holtz the way some do and even if the value was right (I think in reality it would be more of Fehervary + 3rd or 4th for 10 with the Romanov deal as a comp) moving your #2D would be a signal that you're completely tearing everything down and starting a full rebuild and that's not (and shouldn't) happen
