Wait so you have Detroit giving you a very promising former 6th overall pick, young defenseman and paying more for Girard? How does that make sense?

Detroit is so not making that trade.

Nothing against Girard.

But they have extremely high hopes for Edvinsson.

Outside of MacKinnon, Rantanen and Makar, there is nothing on the Avs roster that would make us part with Edvinsson.

He's actually having a solid year in the USHL.

Girard isn't worth anything close to what you think he's worth.

Avs fan. I am one of those that thinks Girard is a great dman. And that he's vastly underrated. However, with that said. Detroit says no. There is no way they do that. Girard is a great top 4. Edvinsson is a potential top pair.

A lot of people don't pay much attention until the player is playing major junior or college hockey. Has he committed to a school yet?

I'm confused. Girard had 4th most TOI for Avs D in the regular season, and 3rd most so far in the playoffs. You're trading a 25 year old defenseman for a 21 year old defenseman to slot into the exact same spot, and having Detroit pay you multiple picks in the process? Where is the logic in that? Detroit obviously declines, but I really wonder what your thought process was here.

I'm legit curious what evaluation of either player made you think that the Wings would ever value Girard more highly than Edvinsson

Yzerman would block your number for suggesting a trade like this

To be honest the redwing fans I have talked to must be bandwagon or something cause they say edvinsson is a bust. Plus girard is on good AAV just not for the avs.

But apparently I'm wrong about the Detroit player

Yeah idk what Wings fans are saying that but that's a harsh review. Kid came in in the highest stress part of our season this year ajd looked good. He's basically penciled into a top 4 spot for next season now in Detroit as a 21 year old.

He may not be as good as Girard as of today, but the expectation is that he'll be very, very good before too long
