If all the RD are off the board like in this scenario, I could see the Sharks doing this. I’d prefer they just keep the pick and draft MBN though.

This trade doesn't make sense to me from Calgary's point of view because if the first four go as shown, then all three of the top LhDs are still on the board, so if even one of the three teams ahead of the Flames selects a forward (Catton, Eiserman, Iginla) or a RhD (Parekh), then Calgary is ensured a top leftie defense prospect. And with their current depth, neither Montreal nor Ottawa seem likely to select a LhD.
