It’s because ‘unlikely’ is an understatement. 0.0% chance the Ducks move McT, a core young piece that is a perfect fit for Verbeek and Cronin’s desired style of play, for Marner who is literally the antithesis

In all likelihood the dude is going to play out next season in TOR, refuse to waive his NMC even if asked (you’ll be in a playoff position come TDL anyways), and once next offseason hits, Ferris is going to be encouraging him to hear offers from around the league. I genuinely think he wants to stay in TOR, but not if they lowball him while he has a few other offers in hand (none of which will be from ANA). I think you guys just end up spending big in the $11.5-$12M range to keep him
