Simple, for me anyway, though I may be the one who is simple..

The Hurricanes, rumored to be open to a bit of a roster "overhaul", acquire a solid veteran who may be able to replicate his 30 goal season of 2023-24 on Carolina's 2nd line, plays hard and tough, and is very defensively sound, a perfect Brind'Amour type of player. He is six years older than Necas, but in the last few years of his contract, if he helps them win a Cup, he's probably worth it. Because of the age gap, the Flames send along their 2024 3rd round pick as well.

Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis
Guentzel? - Kuznetsov - Coleman
Drury - Staal - Fast
Comtois/TBD - Kotkaniemi - TBD

The Flames will not be competing for a Cup for the duration of Coleman's contract, so for me it's easy for them, they swap him for a younger right winger who can slide directly into Calgary's top six, and fits in well with their re-tool given he is, or will be, 26 years old (by December 31, 2024).

Sharangovich - Kadri - Necas
Huberdeau - Zary - Kuzmenko
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coronato
Pelletier/Hunt - Rooney - Pospisil

Calgary would have to very seriously consider this especially since Necas is a right shot, has good size and can play center too. Pretty much exactly what Conroy is looking for in a forward.

Between Zary, Sharky and Necas hopefully at least one of them will become a top 6 center.

Conroy seems to really like Eastern European players too, Russians, Belarusians, Slovaks and Czechs. Gotta wonder how much the Flame new Russian scout has to do with that.

Coleman is a great middle six player, but Carolina should be looking for first liners

Coleman is a 3rd liner who puts up 30-40 points a year. This last year is an outlier. Missing a lot of value going to Carolina
