Carolina was due a win, four 1 goal games now, very close series, even if Carolina’s on the brink

Pwhl has been amazing. They've hit in every level.

Just move to the west coast. Get off work early to watch hockey and go to bed same day. 😋

Look Benn is a physical force but this statement is utter BS. Manson ran him several times after the Toews hit. Put him on his ass on his own bench even. Don't sport crap that isn't true

I mean, people will play him physically. Between the whistles is normal. I feel a rite of passage for stls middle 6 is landing a solid hit on him - we’ve had a few.

But post-big-hit on Toews there aren’t Avs mobbing him, chasing him (like cousins lol). A lot of that has to do with who is on the ice, but it’s been like this for years.

I can’t recall a single time Benn was challenged after a dirty hit and I remember about 5 of them. I can’t recall anytime he “had” to fight. I don’t remember Pronger ever “having” to fight to answer the bell either. I’m sure it’s happened but it doesn’t seem like it works for him the way it works for everybody else. I believe Benn is one of the meanest skaters in the game right now, very very Prongeresque.

Both of them were literally trying to hurt the opponent at moments (elbow drop on prone stone).

People still played pronger physically every second of time between whistles, but nobody messed with him after the whistle ever despite pronger hacking guys to bits in the net front. He was mean as hell and relentless, way over the line nearly every game . I had extremely good season tickets during this era, had “front row” (not exactly but close) seats to some absurd cross checks. People don’t sucker punch Benn/Pronger as much in scrums and such because he’ll cross check them in the neck (Wild can’t remember dudes name happened just like this).

I wish I could find it, Reddit’s hockey sub has historically had a highlight reel of this exact thing: is just a series of elbows, very high cross checks from Benn, opponent dropping, nobody doing anything about it.

Here’s Benns hit on stone. Notice nobody does anything about it.

Tonight is a pivotal game for Boston, they need the win, if they lose tonight, they'll lose in 5 imo, if they can tie the series though, maybe Boston can have a chance to pull things together

World championships is a nice distraction when your team isn’t relevant at this time of year. I really want Poland to actually get good at hockey.

I want to see more countries get good at hockey, I want to see more parity other then the same 3 countries winning everything

I mean, we had the big 5 before (Canada, US, Sweden, Russia, Finland), now it's a big 4 but Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, Switzerland are all sneaky teams that can produce upsets, we are kinda missing some more sneaky teams though

Latvia, Denmark, Norway, France, and Austria are getting more competitive they just need those couple of elite players or quality depth like Germany and Switzerland to have a cinderella type run in a tournament.

England, Poland, and Japan would be awesome countries for ice hockey too

Anyone ever go back and watch Team North America games from the World Cup of Hockey? Easily my favorite team ever assembled.

It’s definitely getting better than it was 10-20 years ago. Germany and Switzerland were nothing 20 years ago. Some other countries are moving up the ranks too like Latvia. I think Poland could be a bit of a dark horse. There’s nothing holding them back from developing a decent program other than interest.

The Brits and Poland are definitely on the rise to varying degrees. Norway is another one that I really want to see take the next step. France and Italy are probably the most frustrating because if they cared more they could put together teams comparable to the Germans and Swiss. I don’t know why Estonia and Lithuania can’t follow Latvia’s example? Most of Europe could be at least competitive if the interest grows. As far as Asia goes, Japan would be great but if that was going to happen I think it would have followed the Nagano Olympics when the country went into love move with Hasek and Jagr.

Agreed.

It was either Dirty or Karma depending on your allegiance but it was a punch in the face.

Also, goalie interference. Is the onus on Coyle to keep his skates?

Zebras/DoPeS are a joke as usual...

BOS up 2-0, take 4-penalties in a row ( 3 are so "soft" Viagra wouldn't help make them better)...

Yeah good call on Italy too. With the 2026 Olympics and some new arenas hopefully they'll get a bump up in interest and resources especially in Milan, Turin, and Northern Italy.

Draisaitl seeming salty after the game. When asked about Silovs/goaltending he said “Well post is not good goaltending”

I’d say 42 saves is pretty good goaltending though

I have a feeling DOPS is gonna have a little talk with Soucy and potentially Zadorov

We have seen how they been dealing with those and a shot to the back by Zadorov leading to McDavid getting it right in the face is not good

And yes I know McDavid slashed but you dont go for a crosscheck up high

Zadorov will probs be fined but will be surprised if no hearing for Soucy

I don't think either will get anything, Zadorov's crosscheck is fine and it really looks like Soucy was aiming for the upper chest, but Zadorov pushed Mcdavid over, leading to him getting hit in the face

Bruins fans can complain about reffing all they want but the Bruins aren't winning when they've had 15, 17 and 18 shots on goal respectively in the last 3 games, they need to shoot more

I think one generational rule exists.

Even if it’s kinda wack, if you catch the best player in the game with a cross check to the face you’re getting a game.

As unfair as something like that is, the hundreds of thousands of people watching hockey when their team is out are watching because of elite athletes. The league has a fiscal responsibility to protect them. The ball was dropped with Marchand. The clip being hidden for 3 days shows that. It won’t be dropped again.

Dfv is back.
