Description
I completely understand this would never happen. That's why it's happening on a website for mock trades, not in real life.

Actually pulling the trigger on that trade AND hoping free agency goes that well for you is a pipe dream. Of course it could happen, but the odds are slim and no GM on the planet would take risks like that, let alone move a franchise defenseman.

You have to imagine with the emergence of Johnston, if Hintz is as untouchable as he was before, especially for someone like Mcavoy. I doubt it but ya never know.

If this was a guaranteed possibility, I'd do it.

CAR seems like they could benefit more from improving at 2C and 3C than what will probably be a small upgrade in net from the current pair to Ullmark.

Ullmark probably has low 1st round trade value but if that swap happened, how much would it move the needle for CAR?

Agreed, if they got Mittelstadt that would've been a sweet trade for them. As long as Svech plays up to his potential that's a dangerous team. If he's not playing 100% they really do lack a true star you need to win a cup.

DAL trade is horrible for both teams.

DAL is already running Heiskanen at 1RD, having 2 1RD on a team doesn't really work. So they would never get full value out of McAvoy.
For BOS, you just destroyed your defense. Good luck with that.

I was under the impression that Heiskanen could play either side, but either way splitting up the top two guys isn't a bad idea.

I mean yeah it's cool that the bruins have a good defense, but its entirely worthless when their first line center is Morgan Geekie. Bruins are wasting Mcavoys prime, and the rest of the teams prime. Defense is a position of strength, which you have to trade from to balance the rest out.

Disagree all you want, one has a much better playoff resume than the other, and their regular season success, outside of Ulmark's fluke last year, is extremely comparable.

Ullmark has been elite in the regular season, somewhat inconsistent in playoffs. Freddie has been inconsistent in the regular season and pretty good in the playoffs. Regardless, Canes don't do this trade, that first can be used better than the upgrade of Andersen to Ullmark.

It's comparable enough to where it's not worth it for the canes. I was hoping more people would comment on the Dallas trade not this tears of joy

McAvoy is the one guy BOS can trust to move the puck and PP.
If you move him, the team dies. You have no one capable of replacing him. I don't know how you get Defense is a position of strength enough to just trade him. It's not. There is no one else there capable of being a 1RD.
As for DAL, this has been a proven fact over and over again putting 2 1RD on a team, does not work.
I don't think it's so easy as to just move Heiskanen over either. You never get the value out of a player when you have 2 of them. There just isn't enough ice time.
To take those offensive guys and put them in Dzones, is a waste of their skill set. There is only so much time in the Ozone.
