Italics means either RFA or UFA.

The Rangers acquire some more firepower for their top six. Ehlers should want to re-sign, so I don't see the one year remaining on his deal as an impediment or a concern. Hopefully stays healthy. Rangers with options for a beastly heavy playing 4th line, Grind Line times ten.

Kreider - Zibanejad - Ehlers
Panarin - Trocheck - Lafreniere
Cuylle - Roslovic/UFA - Vesey
Edstrom - Goodrow - Rempe
Brodzinski

The Jets acquire a center with tons of skill who they can slot in on the 2nd line in Filip Chytil, hopefully he stays healthy and starts to grow his career. They also get Kaapo Kakko, a pretty good defensive forward (a Jets kind o' player) who may yet break out offensively himself given the opportunity in the top six on a new team. I can't see him doing it on the Rangers if they're going to upgrade their top six anyway. Perfetti gets another chance in the top six with coach Bowness gone.

Connor - Scheifele - Vilardi
Perfetti - Chytil - Kakko
Niederreiter - Lowry - Appleton
Barron - Namestnikov - Iafallo
D. Gustafsson

Supposing the Jets combine this with a deal with Kent Hughes, who is fine playing the long game with the Habs. On top of this, what do you think of Rutger McGroarty for David Reinbacher, one for one. Reinbacher may even be ready to break into the NHL as early as 2024-25, while McGroarty will wait another year before joining those ranks, but still gives Hughes what he wants in an excellent forward prospect that can play either center or wing, while still having plenty of good D prospects.. Hughes may even decide to draft a right shot D at 5th OA in this case to replace Reinbacher in the system.

i doubt hughes has any plans to trade reinbacher, and the jets probably want someone who can play now. any interest in justin barron? obviously not for mcgroarty, butwe could find something that works.

if you want a defensive dman, try seattle, ehlers/lucius for wright/larsson/pick.

That's a pretty easy no for Winnipeg. Neither player fills a need for the Jets.

It needs to be a hockey trade for a top 4 RHD or 2C with term or team control.

Chytl is really good, only problem is, injury prone... he's gonna need to prove he's healthy before he gets moved.

Unfortunately for other posters... if Ehlers moves for RHD, you might be surprised at the exchange rate. Those guys are in high demand right now.

Agree to disagree on Chytil... if he can remain healthy he would be a fine 2C, imo.

If you want Kadri and Rasmus Andersson though, we'll take Ehlers and McGroarty grimace .. probably to trade Ehlers at the deadline for more futures-like stuff. Or re-sign him if Connor Zary can show well as a center in 2024-25.

No interest in Kadri, but Andersson would be nice. You don't think Calgary will try to keep him?

If the Flames want to be in any playoff discussions at all come February/March 2025, they will for sure unless they get an offer that's too good. I am in favor of a more robust "re-tool" though, I'd definitely do things differently than Murray Edwards is demanding Conroy do. Let's say Hunter Bru...Brz...Bruzste....... Hunter "Smith" .. makes the team out of camp, the Flames could still run with him, Miromanov and Pachal as RD, with Weegar also a right shot.

Not sure about Barron.. he can't beat out a guy like Kovacevic on the Habs roster, I don't see him being much of an upgrade, if any, over any of the Jets' current D at the moment. Though to be fair, his numbers aren't that bad and he is a big guy.. he might be a decent option after all, but as you said, for a lower price..
