<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>If he was way better at center you would have been using him there. You have been lacking a quality #2 since Trochek left. Nor would you have trade for Kuzy to try to fix that problem.

Nothing about his game screams he is better at C, not his faceoffs, not his D, not his possession metrics, nothing.

The league is filled with wings that are converted centers because they did not have the game for center at the next level.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>He's a natural center that sucks in the dot. That's the only knock on him. Defensively, he's fine. He's never winning the Selke, but he's not awful. His speed alone makes him more dangerous down the middle than on the wing, he's got a NASTY shot, he's a great passer of the puck, and something everyone forgets with Necas... he's 6'2. He's everything you want in a center minus the faceoff issue, and he is a natural center.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>so when he gets more defensive responsibilities he'll be better offensively? riiiightttt</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>Really? I thought defensively he wasn't what you wanted out of a center</div></div>

"Necas is a natural center, he just isn't good at the two things you need to have to be a natural centrer"

&gt; Terrible at draws
&gt; Terrible D metrics

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>What preference would you have to moving that pick? We shouldn't be moving this year's selection and 2026 is going to be a tough year for us most likely.</div></div>

I'm not moving 25 or 26 tbh, especially because "top 10 protected" on the 25 pick also would almost certainly come with "transfers to 26 unprotected if 25 pick doesn't convey." I think there's still too much risk and variance in this team's outcomes the next couple of years to make a move like that ahead of the season starting. Would have to be a real no-doubt superstar to make me consider it, pretty much only Marner with an extension.

The 24 one though I have no problem with if it's the right player. This draft is better than it gets credit for at the top, but really drops off steep right around where the Caps are at 17. Because of that, the certainty of where that pick lands, and the fact that even if everything goes right next year I still don't see them picking higher than like 21oa, I think if you're making a big splash that's the asset you use to do it.

Rossi I would 100% move 17oa for, although attaching Lapierre as well makes it more lukewarm for me. Ehlers (with some kind of indication he'd be willing to stay), Zegras, Necas are pretty much the only other forwards this summer that I think fit the bill for that kind of move. On D it's pretty much Chabot or Andersson for me, Chychrun or Hronek I wouldn't love but would understand.
