If Brady does ask for a trade

Created by: Goose1227
Team: 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: May 14, 2024
Published: May 14, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Which team has the best assets for the Sens? Not which team makes most sense for Brady. If he asks for a trade, it’s not his call on where he goes. If you feel there’s another team that could potentially have what it’ll take, just post it.

So a 1st round pick, anywhere from 5 to 16?

I think he was asking about which team would have the assets to acquire him. Sens will be looking for a top right handed prospect for sure and more

Buffalo by far has the combination of cap space and assets.

But teams are not going to trade for Brady Tkachuk if he publically says he doesn't want to play for them. Players have more power than that in today's game

Sorry wasn’t clear but i was talking about defenseman. Ottawa biggest need are definitely right handed defenseman.

Oh - we don’t have any young ones of those. Still think Armstrong would offer a ransom for Brady after missing out on Matthew

They have a couple of solid prospects. Maybe with Parayko and one of the top gun forward prospect it would make it

We definitely do need right handed wingers too. So far we have Batherson/Giroux and that's it and Giroux isn't going to stick around if Brady gets moved.

NSH - Kemell, Saros, 1st
NJD - Nemec, Mercer, 1st

Pretty sure Travis green was hired because of ties to tkachuk family… highly doubtful he is traded. Bet he even had say in picking the coach.

So he's not going to ask, but in a hypothetical world. Would you trade Brady and the #7 for the Hawks #2 and #20? Brady and the #2 being the core pieces. The contract friendly nature of an ELC and youth yields the move up from #20 to #7.

If the Hawks need to add a 5th of whatever...that's not the intent behind this hypothetical situation.

We are definitely not trading Brady to move up from #7 to #2 lol. It'd be #2 for Brady.

That doesn't do much for us lol. Realistically if Brady wanted out we'd want a young NHL stud already, and not picks.

That's fair, but far easier said than done. Look at his brother.

Tbf I think Calgary was still trying to be a competitive team when they did that move. They denied #2 from NJ in a far better draft. If the Sens trade Brady it's to be good in 2-3 years with Timmy, Pinto, Greig, Sanderson + whoever they get from Brady imo.

Brady is worth more than Jack Hughes. Is Jack Hughes worth #2 in this draft?

That’s just untrue . If we get 1 very good quality piece like Nemec it’ll be closer to a 1 for 1. And you know what, I don’t hate it. As long as they get a major piece to build around next to Stutzle and Sanderson it works .

I love how 75% of this is players just straight up more valuable than Brady

We can go through historical number 2 picks and see which provided more value over 3 ELC years at 900k+4 years of RFA control than Tkachuk over 4 years at 8.2 mill

We will start 7 years ago as those guys have completed their full 7 years of team control

Laine: yes
Eichel: yes
Reinhart: probably yes
Barkov: yes
Murray: no
Landeskog: yes
Seguin: yes
Hedman: yes
Doughty: yes
JVR: no
Staal: yes
Ryan: yes
Malkin: yes
Staal: yes
Lehtonen:No (although goalies were much more valued then)
Spezza: yes
Heatley: yes
Sedin: yes

You are severly underrating the hit rate on 2nd overall picks, and severely underrating the impact of an ELC stud.

A 6 mill player making 1 mill provides the same surplus value as a 13 mill player making 8 mill

Carolina probably have the best assets to help the Senators because of how stupid the prospect pool is,

Yeah you need a piece to build around equal to a top 7 pick in this draft
