Actually he did. He has a full NMC not for the first year but for every year after the first. They can trade him anywhere they want next season, after that they can't trade him at all unless he agrees.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MrReed</b></div><div>Montreal would likely have either Iginla or Sennecke but can't pick them at 5 this would be a big mistake since they would have one of the 2 in 9th + having another 1st late pick. Calgary would want either Lindstrom, SIlayev or Catton at that pick. I see Montreal pick Iginla at 9, use the Jets pick as a base to trade for a Necas or Zegras. Them draft little bro Hutson with the canucks pick.</div></div>
Calgary probably does something like that for Lindstrom and might consider it for Iginla, Yakemchuk, Silayev or Dickinson but not for Catton. Iginla isn't likely to still be on the board at 9, he should go well before Catton.
Dunno if they'd want Barron though, they already have a lot of decent to good defensive prospects to compete for NHL jobs next year. They'll probably end up waiving a few of them as it is now.

They are going into cap hell, how are they dumping Georgiev and finding a way to squeeze in an expensive goalie

Calum Ritchie + the Avs 2024 1st for 50% retention and Calgary eating Georgiev's last year. Colorado would actually gain 400k in cap space.

Haha, if NJ trades their 1st for Markstrom Calgary will be receiving it not Montreal. Montreal will not get 9 and 10 for 5 even if they offered to retain 50% on Markstrom.

Marky to Sabres
I can't see the Sabres and Flames swapping Levi for Coronato. 15% retention doesn't make any sense either it's too little for the Sabres to pay very much for and the Flames won't want to tie up a retention slot for 2 years unless the Sabres are willing to pay quite a bit extra for it. No retention or 50% retention would both be far more likely.

Vegas has enough snipers and getting top defensive winger and playmaker is better then Barbashev and an aging Marchessualt</div></div>
"Top defensive winger" LOL, don't believe everything you read or hear on TV from the Toronto centric Canadian hockey media. It's all about views and clicks and BSing about the team in Canada's largest metropolitan area gets more views/clicks than anything else.
Barbashev and Marchessault combined make less money than Marner makes, have similar combined regular season production and better combined post season production. They won't be looking for 12 mil plus a year from now either.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shaun80</b></div><div>Coronato and Mangiapane may be a little shorter then the average NHLer, but they're both built like brick **** houses. They both come in around 185 pounds, yakemchuk is 6'3 and only 8 pounds heavier. The difference with buffalo is all their pospects are 5'9-5'11 and weigh 160 pounds</div></div>
Yakemchuk is 18 years old, 3 years younger than Coronato and 10 years younger than Mangiapane neither of which weighed near 180 lbs when they were drafted. Yakemchuk has plenty of time to fill out just like those two did. The difference is when he's in his 20's he'll almost certainly be well over 200 lbs.
Yak isn't just another offensive defenseman who put up a lot of points either. He plays a physical game too and physicality is something the Flames D is lacking right now. Weegar is the most physical defenseman we have besides Gilbert but he's more of a spare part / depth player whose best attribute is he can fight.
IOW Yak is exactly the type of defenseman the Flames need. The fact that he's a right shot makes him even more valuable.

You're always saying we have too many under sized forwards already and other then pelletier I don't have a clue who you're talking about. Maybe Zarys a little light.</div></div>
Pelletier, Coronato, Mangi, most of the higher end prospects drafted under Treliving. Conroy has repeatedly said the team needs to get younger and bigger and he's shown he means it by drafting and trading for bigger players.
Sure you can keep drafting all these little guys based on who put up the most points in junior and be like the Sabres... The pundits keep ranking your prospect system the best in the league but you still can't even make the playoffs after years and years of rebuilding.
Size does matter as do intangibles like grit, competitiveness, physicality, being a team player instead of a me first prima donna focused on personal stats instead of on the team winning games. You can have lots of skill but if you don't have size, grit, etc too (not just in the bottom 6 / on the bottom pair either) you'll get intimidated, pushed around and never go very far in the playoffs.

I'd pay something for PLD thought not as much as suggested here. Mangi and a 3rd or something like that. I'd definitely keep Kuznetsov, he's one of the guys I'd want to try with Huberdeau and PLD.
