Matt Puempel, Curtis Lazar, Colin White, Logan Brown, Shane Bowers, Lassi Thomson, Tyler Boucher
There has been some winners of course.</div></div>
I mean Lazar isn't really that bad, and Thomson could have been developed a little better I feel. Boucher still has time but its not looking too great.
The Capitals have certainly had some poor picks along the years, but our problem is our GM was trading our firsts to try and win the cup, which we eventually finally did after actually not trading our 1st lmfao

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BillytheKid3</b></div><div>That's not... that's not really the argument I'm making here. Most of the guys in the top 17 will need a year or 2 of development also so that point is irrelevant.
My argument is he's on the younger side of the prospects (which does matter at that age) and that I don't think he falls all the way out of the top 10, and certainly not down to 17.
Every year every pick between like 7-50 can be a toss up because these are basically kids your picking from. Even late round guys develop well.
The kid broke the USNTDP record for goals in a season and he's like 6 months to a year younger than 95% of this draft class, I just don't think a team at like 10th passes that up because Zadina was a bust 7 years ago and some guy at The Athletic thinks he's a cherry picker.
I don't know, I could be wrong. I just don't want Ottawa to draft another bust tbh lol.</div></div>
Who are your busts? Boucher? Thompson? I don't think JBD is a bust. Maybe Colin White?

I do not see the capitals moving back 6 spots or whatever it is for someone that does nothing to help the team. Iorio and Chesley are our young defensemen that will be coming up and he is not better than either of them

Season Starter
That third line would get eaten alive night in and night out. You would arguably worse off to start the season like this. Skjei is a good pick up but the goaltending is still not top 16 in the league. And again that third line is all rookies minus Robertson and he has one seasons worth of games in four years

My question is what is their plan with Askarov? He seems ready for a bigger role than an AHL goaltender. Do they potentially move him to the NHL roster and trade Lankinen or do they let him have another season as one of the best goaltender's in the AHL

My top 32 Rank (Not Draft) Give opinions thanks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BillytheKid3</b></div><div>Ya guys see Pronmans rankings and think teams will just straight go by that. I've been debating [arguing] a few Caps fans about this.
My comment recycled from another thread below:
"I know we're all armchair analysts here, and you're mock draft is very interesting. That kid is one of the purest goal scorers I've ever seen.
Keep in mind, Eiserman is a basically a September 06 (Aug 29th) so he's one of the youngest players in this draft. I could only imagine what another 8 months to a year could do. Someone graabs the kid in the top 10."</div></div>
I will say, everyone gave into my logic on the other post.
For a shortened version here:
Eiserman has the talent for his offensive ability but he is not a complete player and is a ways off from being NHL ready. Needs probably another 2 years of development.
Here is the point I made. Look back to the 2018 draft and look at the hype around Filip Zadina. He was seen as the same type of prospect, a massive offensive threat that had his shot going for him. Teams passed on him because he was not a complete player and I am sure Detroit wishes they could go back and pass on him as well. Not saying Eiserman will pan out the same way, but that is the type of risk you take with this kind of player.

I think they did well from 2017-2021. Granted Bouch was a reach but he could turn out to be a decent player, just might need more development time.

No way the Capitals go with a LHD at 17. Maybe if it was a very high end prospect like Buium but no chance on Hutson

I don't think they give up Crouse for a late 1st and an average prospect. They would need more like late first and Ritchie or Maybe Girard and a 2nd. IDK what Crouse's value is but the leadership aspect and the hard nosed play is worth a lot

I would love to see you do a three round draft.
I think the Capitals have two spots of need, RW and RHD. BUTTTTTTTTT I can absolutely see them taking Connelly if he is on the board there and I would not be upset with it. Unfortunately I cannot see who you have us taking in the second and third round and that is why I really want to see your top 97 in this draft

You shouldn't be ready to give up on him, but it would take the better player to get Marty. He is a fan favorite and a very good defenseman.

Talent wise absolutely, but you know just as well as I do that teams get locked in on certain prospects in the top 10 and end up taking reaches or picks that you are not quite sure of as a fan, or they see things differently than we do. Prime example of that is Zadina, fans and others swore he was going to be a top goal scorer in the league but never translated that well. There are always surprises in a draft and I am certainly looking forward to those this coming draft

A lot of Mocks (from insiders and draft analysts) showing they project him to drop pretty far. Personally, I think MBN is the better all around player at that spot. But I also think Connelly is a top 10 talent and people give him a hard time for a mistake he made. I would be thrilled with any of those three or even Greentree as a Caps fan so I guess the order from 10-20 will be interesting to see how it plays out.
