Description
Buchnievich gets a bridge deal rather than a long term extension in this scenario so that it’s easier to sign him financially.
Not sure if the NJD cap dump is overpay or underpay. Georgiec and a 3rd should be enough to get them to take on both the 2nd is there because we are rivals and they won’t help us easily.
EDM and WIN trades are both taking on multiple large cap dumps in order to make the price of a highly valued asset slightly cheaper. EDM gets a 1st/2nd line winger who will thrive with Draisaitl and McDavid, a solid D prospect who is a a stay at home defensemen. They also get Pionk, who is a high risk high reward player who could be a good OFD, or a solid 3rd pair guy as long as he manages his defensive game and works on consistency.

OK ill start:

Edmonton trade: rumor here in NY is that Kreider wont accept a trade to a Canadian or west coast team so this one can be ruled out

Winnipeg trade: you are on the right track but any trade starts with Winnipegs first round pick and Andersson plus probably one more smaller piece

Ottawa and Arizona trades are fine

Devils would never do that deal.

I’ve never heard that rumor with Kreider not wanting to go to Canada or the West Coast. Is the value good in that trade?
As for Winnipeg, I was counting on the cap dumps to account for more and negate Trouba’s value more significantly. Because if you look at it, they get a top prospect in Lias Andersson, a B prospect in Joey Keane, a solid 2nd/3rd line player in Strome who has the upside to be a 45 point player, and a mid-2nd rounder. Then two contracts worth 4 mil+ are taken on. I thought that trade was alright, but not perfect.
My goal was to make a good trade without including any of our top D prospects or 1st round picks.
How come the Devils trade is bad?
Kulikov’s buy out does not have a very large price, and Shattenkrik could bounce back. But a very promising Goalie prospect in Georgiev, a 2nd and 3rd should make up for it all if you ask me. Unless Bastian has some upside or talent that I haven’t heard of, I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that one.

Yeah I think you are on the right track with the Kreider trade...dont think the Rangers need to or would want to take back Russell.

I think Winnipeg would be interested in the cap dumps but why would they want to add in Strome’s $3M cap hit? Imo take out strome and make the 2nd round pick a first and i think you have a deal.

Now onto the NJ trade...everything is fine except Jersey is not going to take on Shattenkirks cap hit when they are a rebuilding team. They have severson, vatanen, greene as their top 3 and mueller/butcher as 4/5. They arent going to pay $6.65M for a #6 defenseman when they can find a cheap filler like santini.

And giving up 2nd/3rd round picks i dont think moves the needle enough to make them accept that deal.
