Updated: The section "What about LTIR?" Has been updated on July 11, 2017   With the Toronto Maple Leafs 2017-18 salary cap hit projection currently at $78,929,167, the club is projected to exceed the cap by $3,929,167. This has lead to a significant amount of interest in the Leafs salary position, which we have received through the form of emails, Facebook messages, and tweets. The most common question being: do the Leafs have enough space to sign their restricted free agent (RFA) Connor Brow...

It was previously reported that the Shane O'Brien buyout by the Calgary Flames in June 2014 was a compliance buyout and therefore had no cap hit implications (As part of the 2012 CBA, teams were permitted two compliance buyouts which allowed a team to buyout a player with no cap hit penalties).   It has been confirmed to CapFriendly that the buyout was not a compliance buyout, and was instead a standard buyout. The resulting buyout cap hit was therefore as follows:   2014-15: $533,333...

Chalk one up for John Chayka and Terrance Bross: last week the Arizona Coyotes GM and Player Agent for Shane Doan put the finishing touches on a new 1 year contract extension for the Coyotes captain.   At first glance, the 1 year deal is structured how one would expect for the 39 year old veteran who is returning for his 21st season in the National Hockey League (all of which have been spent with the Winnipeg/Arizona organization).   The contract includes a standard Base Salary and a Signing ...

In preparation for the 2016-17 season, we have slid the entry level slide eligible contracts.     As explained in the CBA FAQ, if a player who is signed to an entry-level contract and is 18 or 19 years of age (as of September 15 of the signing year) does not play in a minimum of 10 NHL games (including both regular season and playoffs; AHL games do not count), their contract is considered to ‘slide’, or extend, by one year. For example, if a player signed an ELC for three seasons from 2...

A highly requested feature is the ability to determine when a player will no longer be waiver-exempt. We are pleased to announce that we have released a tool titled Waivers Calculator which gives you this ability.   The easy to use navigation allows you to scroll through the waivers-exempt players and simply clicking their name will load the waivers details for this player.   When a player is reassigned from the NHL to the AHL, they must pass through waivers (unless exempt). Waivers allow any ...

A popular request we have received is the ability to use Armchair-GM without requiring an account. We are happy to let you know that fans everywhere can now use AGM - registered or not!   Armchair-GM is a feature that allows anybody to be the general manager of an NHL team. Features include the ability to trade with other teams, sign UFA's and RFA's, buyout players, update roster positions and send players to LTIR and the minors.   While anybody can now create their own teams, to publish your...
