Description

This is not rumored nor would it happen, but if there was a RHD to pair with Provorov on our top pairing I don't think you could build a better fit than Doughty. Does everything well, is still a force on the ice, and if the Kings would be looking for a rebuild of sorts, this package would certainly suit their needs.

It would be a lot to give up, but I think given this trade and signing Donskoi to replace losing TK on the wing (not in terms of production but as a roster spot) I think this team on paper still looks like it would be pretty good, and if things meshed and they don't have abysmal PK and goaltending for half a season they're definitely a playoff team.

This is a bad trade for LA. Blake is smart enough to get Provorov or Sanheim in return over Gostisbehere.

Ok but you're saying Provorov being the centerpiece of the deal makes it fair? I'm just wondering what LA is thinking giving Doughty that many years/dollars with that team around him on the decline. I guess they think they can retool and make it back into contention while he's still an impactful player, but unless they're going to start selling pieces, they're not really entering a rebuild. That roster looks rough and the contracts they have on the books are...woof. Carter, Brown, Phaneuf, Kovalchuk are getting like $25 million between them. If it was 2010, you've got the makings of a good squad, but not anymore

They won't contend next year but if I am dealing my best player and one of the best defensemen in the world to Philly I'd at least want Provorov in return over Gost. In reality If I am Rob Blake, I don't even consider trading Doughty.
