Description

Offers for Gusev are too low of what is being offered in trade options. Both sides compromise, and Gusev can be a UFA next year. If he went back to the KHL, he would have to wait 2 years to become a UFA (qualifying offer - defector clause). Even if he tears it up in the KHL he will be a 29 yr old who has never played in the NHL. Deal works for both sides.

But Vegas holds the cards, his only leverage is to go back to the KHL for 2 years for less money, then he will be a 29 yr old UFA with no NHL experience. He signs for one yr with Vegas, he is a UFA with NHL experience next year

Not with a team salary cap (implemented last year and a reason he bolted to the NHL) of 9.25m over there, 1m-1.5m tops
The knock on him is that he has yet to play in the NHL, that won't serve him well at 29 no matters how well he plays over there

No way Gusev takes a 1 x 2 deal, He's adamant that he wants 2 x 4 and wont take less.
