They aren't giving up 3 and 5 for the first pick. Laf isn't a McDavid or Crosby guarantee and at 3 and 5 there will be players that can easily be as good as him.

Now saying that there are a couple packages I could see giving up to move up in draft. The team that gets the pick is obviously going to be a playoff contender so NHL ready players under low cap hits could be attractive to the team with 1OA
