I feel like there would be a better option than Lee given his contract isn't great, maybe Hoffman?

After this past season with Burnsy i bet you could replace Burns with someone cheaper and use that money to bring in Bergy as the 2nd line C. Really fix up the top 6 forwards AND top 4 D
Sorry i cant think of anyone, imma do my research soon

EDIT: Oh maybe Kevin Shattenkirk? Idk hes been really solid this past year, and again hes a slight downgrade from Burns, but you can get Bergy in at 2C.
Or if you then drop Staal because you dont need him, that leavs like 5 million so you could even upgrade Shattenkirk to someone lol

In my scenario here I think Burns bounces back to last years form with all this talent around him. But, after thinking about it, you're right. I swap out Burns for a much cheaper option and Bergy can solidify this forward group. I like your idea. I honestly skipped Shattenkirk because I assumed he was a Retained Salary player via trade. I forgot that he was bought out and signed cheap with TBL!
