from what i understand,we cant use a buy out now.If jake was awarded a contract in Arb we can use a buy out.Because he signed before his hearing we now can not use the buy out.this is what i heard.im not 100 percent sure though. any idea?

The Canucks were given a buyout window of 24 hours which I believe is expected to start on Saturday, two days after the contract was signed. With Virtanen signing, and the team being over the cap, there is going to be a buyout window. It’s a very complicated situation, CapFriendly explains it better if you go to your buyout FAQ.

A buyout of Sutter is kinda dumb. He has 1 year left. He comes off thr books in time for the big deals. If Jim had been smart he would have traded Eriksson to Ottawa when they were taking bad contracts.

But now when you need the money the most next offseason you have over 2 mil tied up in him. Ferland is still questionable. They can put him on LTIR if he isnt good. Like i said, would have been better to move Eriksson when Ottawa was taking bad contracts. The idea is there with the buyout, I just think it doesnt make sense to buy him out with 1 year left.
