Description

MTL coaching staff doesn't trust Mete anymore : they rather play Ouellet & now Leskinen than him.

It's a clear call to the GM : get us a reliable 7th D while Chiarot is out and for the playoffs.

Yes Leskinen has been good in Laval but we don't know if it will translate to the NHL. You just don't get into playoffs if you're unsure about your 7th D.

With Gally on LTIR, MTL would have enough cap space for all those players, with retained salary or not. All trades for picks, Mete could be added.

All those players are pure rentals. Rentals make sense IMO because it leaves 1-2 spots open next year for their LD prospects to make the team.

Which one would you trade for? Not sure Bergevin would go for a stay-at-home D with Chiarot, Edmundson & Weber in the line up for playoffs.

I honestly think it would be a waste to go after a depth D (although Savard and Romanov on the third pairing would be sweet). They need to go big game hunting with a top pairing D. There can be an argument made for either a RD to push Weber down to the third pairing or a LD to rejuvenate Weber as a top pairing D. Either way imo if one becomes available they should go for it (within asking price reason, aka not KK, Suzuki, Romanov or Caufield)
