Description

Petterson takes less money (6.5mil) and takes 4 years term. This will walk him to free agency when his contract is over. Bu then he will have a lot of leverage and will sign a contract at about 7 year 11.5 million dollar deal when the cap goes up. This would be a good deal for Petterson, and he won’t make a ton of money against the cap in Benning’s perspective.

Quinn Hughes cashes in and takes a 7 year 8.25 mil contract. This will walk him to free agency. After he cashes in with the canucks he can take a cheaper deal and sign with his brothers in New Jersey 6 x 6.5 mil and the hughes brothers will live happily ever after. Benning gets Hughes for seven years at a high price, but one that is worth it. He gets a #1 Offensive Dman that could grow into a top 10 maybe even top 5 dman in the league

Jim Benning is not gonna walk Petey straight to UFA, that’s foolish and even Benning knows it.Pettersson signs for 3 years for 7-8 mil a year. Again, Benning isn’t gonna walk Quinn to UFA because everyone knows exactly where he’s gonna go after. He’s either gonna have a bridge deal for 3 years or 8 year long deal.
