Description
Note: Would have liked to have Darcy back as he's already familiar with our system, but with all our cap space himself and Campbell likely pricing himself out of Toronto, I thought it would make more sense to sign a more consistent and more established goaltender.

Trades
1.
COL
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi [RFA Rights]
  2. Ruhwedel, Chad
  3. Zohorna, Radim
  4. 2022 4th round pick (PIT)
  5. 2022 5th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Kapanen needs a change of scenery. His trade level is at an all time low, which means he would likely demand a lower-than-usual AAV on his next contract but I believe he can definitely bounce back with such gifted teammates and under Colorado's high flying offensive style of play. Zohorna played great for the pens, he's only played a small sample size though so his trade value won't be unreasonable. Bro is a 6'6 220 pound TANK who would be perfect for the avs 4th line. Ruhwedel is the sweetener to this deal and makes the perfect bottom pairing defenseman.
PIT
  1. Girard, Samuel
  2. 2022 6th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
If the pens unfortunately cannot resign letang, girard can be a low cost alternative. His skating and puck moving ability would fit in perfectly with the pens system.
2.
COL
  1. Scheifele, Mark
Additional Details:
Would have loved to keep Kadri, but given the fact that Mackinnon's contract is expiring next year, it makes sense to try to keep as much cap space available as possible heading into next offseason. Kadri will probably demand between $7.5-$8 mill on his upcoming deal. As much as I love Naz, I think it's better to play with a better centre making a lower AAV for the next 2 years and then cross that bridge when it comes. There will be plenty of 2nd line UFA centres anyway.

A. There's no way winnipeg takes that trade
B. Why would they sign campbell when they could get keumper for around that same price

Sedlak has literally 0 value. O'Connor's value isn't much higher. Compher is a 3rd liner. I'm not saying Scheifele should earn McD's value but this is not enough

J. T. Compher is a glorified 3C, Plus a bunch of scraps and a late 1st rounder doesn't get Mark Scheifele. Winnipeg will get a far better offer than this laughable deal.
