First attempt with CapFriendly, but here it goes.

Trades:
Helm
-I think Detroit offers Vegas a pick to take Helm. While he is injury prone, he has a few things that would help Vegas:
1. Helm's contract helps Vegas get to the cap floor
-- I know the report says Vegas wants a 1st rounder for a bad contract, but I don't think Vegas will get a 1st rounder for any bad contract, even in a draft year like this year.
2. When healthy he is a serviceable 3rd/ 4th line center
3. Provides veteran leadership to a brand new team (not saying he will wear a letter, but he does provide leadership)

*** I wouldn't go higher than a third round so if this deal fell through Vegas would be taking Sheahan, and you can just replace Helm in the lineup for Sheahan.


Green
This trade happens at the deadline.
I debated putting a prospect in the deal, but I'm not sure Detroit could get a prospect in the deal. I do believe at the deadline Green would return a 1st rounder from a Stanley Cup contender. Detroit will have to take a bad contract back, and while I don't know what contract Edmonton would be looking to get rid of Fayne would be a good option for Detroit. He has one year left, and this would provide Edmonton cap relief for taking on a big contract.

Roster Moves:
On a rebuilding team I would love to see what Nosek, Bertuzzi, and Svechnikov can do (in a role that is appropriate for the player)
--Bertuzzi is a 4th line grinder, who can provide a little bit of offense. He would slot in on the 4th line with Sheahan (Helm), and Abdelkader.
--I haven't gotten to see a lot of Nosek, but he can provide scoring on this third line with Larkin and AA. I would be open to Nosek and Abdelkader switching spots in the roster, but would like to see Nosek start on a line with two young speedy forwards.
--I think most Red Wings fans would agree with putting Svechnikov in the top 6. I don't really care where or who he is playing with, but he should be slotted in to the top 6 somewhere.

***Detroit's back end is still a mess, but they will not fix that in one off season, and won't fix it until Ericsson and Kronwall are 3rd pairing guys or not in the line up.
***Detroit does not re sign Miller and lets him walk.
*** I would like to see Larkin as the third line center, to at least start the season and continue to grow into the center position at the NHL level.
***Glendening and Frk provide depth up front
***Russo/Sproul/Ouellet rotate until they find a combo that works. (Personally I would love to see Ericsson in this competition as well, but that wouldn't happen)
