This is my attempt to help John Tavares with a solid LW player.

Compared to the insane cost JT Miller is supposed to fetch as well as the massive price to re-sign him to the end of his career, I believe that Nino is a MUCH better target as he can be signed to a deal that takes him to age 35 for less than either of the JTs are making currently.

The Leaf's declare "We don't need no stinkin' badges...um...I mean..JT Miller"

Also I "Kucherov'd" Muzzin because EVERY team a Leaf fan has traded him to has had that team's fanbase say Muzzin has injury issues. I am sure the NHL brass believes that as well and wouldn't be suspicious so I might as well leverage it. Silver lining to a rough narrative.

Oh, and I traded Kerfoot to that team that everyone agrees on for the return that everyone expects.

All joking aside, I am wondering how to get rid of the constant turn over each year. This team would only have contracts ending for 5 forwards, 1 defenseman and 1 goalie.

Leafs would lose Bunting to Edmonton or Vancouver of course. Holl can move on. That leaves only bottom 6 forwards to re-sign: Engvall, Kampf, Gaudette and Aube-Kubel for contracts most likely within $0.5 MIL each of what they are currently making or $2 MIL more as a group in total.

Look to see if Knies or Robertson can take Bunting's place on LW.

Where would Samsonov end up compared to his $1.8 MIL? Not sure yet obviously. We will have to see how he plays this year as he could end up being worse.
