Description

Flames trade a top Goalie prospect to Rangers who doesn't need protected for a goalie they can't protect. Helps both teams.

Sign Gagne who is right in the age group of most the players but won't cost the bank. Re-sign Versteeg, Bennett, Chiasson, Lazar, and Ferland.

Cap adjusted to expected 75M. Sign Franson and Mason as a 1B with Raanta. This leaves cap space for deadline. Vegas takes one of Shinkurak or Kulak.

Agree with the Raanta trade. Probably a strong contingent of CGY fans would be upset with losing Gillies, but I think it makes sense.

Not sure I agree with Mason as a 1B. I think he might stay around $4M. Like the goalie, just would prefer testing him as a starter. Realistically I think CGY will bring back Johnson as the backup to whoever they bring in.

I don't love re-signing Chiasson, since CGY should be giving Lazar a chance to compete for a steady roster spot. Kind of iffy on Gagner signing for the same reason, though he could be a good replacement for Versteeg in a year or so, and can also play center.
