This may be the best time to unload his contract. MacDonald should not be in a top defensive pairing, which makes him too expensive anywhere else in the line up and the kids are just going to continue to push for the other spots some time this season as well as the next two seasons. A few of the ELCs will expire before his contract expires, and I would rather see his cap space go to them. Kulikov fits the veteran defenseman position at half the cost and only one year term as a "prove it" year.
