R. Smith is a pretty serious drop down for that Backlund line. There isn't a good reason to do this series of moves, even if it offloaded the Brouwer contract. Smith has another 5 years.

Would hope that Frolik could draw a better package as well, if he were being shopped.

You resigned Elliott and WIDEMAN - seriously????

With Smith the #1 spot is taken.
As for Wideman I am at a loss for words - Calgary has more than enough offencive D-men... And Wideman is way to slow to play in this league. After Calgary aquired Stone last year he was in the press box for the remainder of the season!
