Hear me out- Green trade is obvious- pending UFA flipped for a 2nd & 5th (Brendan Smith got more).

Carolina is uber rich in young D- Jake Bean was a 2016 1st round pick... future top pairing D potential. We flip for Saarijavi (a boom or bust prospects) and Nielsen... Carolina has lots of youth but needs a savy veteran to play in top 9. Wings eat $1.25M per year and add Pens 3rd rounder to sweeten the deal.

Ericsson a buy-out... was at a game recently and he is easily the worst player on the ice. Cut the cord here and let younger D develop. Kronwall to LTIR- he's a shell of his former self.

these moves give team young nucleus to build around of:
Forwards: Larkin, AA, Mantha, Bert, Svechnikov, Rasmussen
D: Bean, Hicketts, Cholowski, Hronek
Plus add a (hopefully) top 5 pick from stacked 2018 draft and 3 2nd rounders.

With these moves- payroll for start of 2018/19 season would be about $48M, so about $25-$30M in cap space to sign young RFA's. Dont sign any UFA's and let the kids play! Ride out the other albatross contracts of Helm, DD, Abby, etc. Be patient, let he kids play! May not make the playoffs next eyar either but at least there is a plan... and hope for a return to glory!
