Why would a point per game player sign for $5.2 million?

Because he's made millions and won Cups and maybe likes the team he's on?

Nah, couldn't be it at all. 🙄

Kane could sign a 3 year extension with Detroit and the trade rumors will never stop with him. 🤔

one, because $5m is the number I've seen most often thrown around for him. Recently people have been guessing $6m, and I'd be good with that, too. But he's also 35 years old with a recent major hip surgery that doesn't have a great track record for long term high end play afterward. maybe someone will go nuts and throw $8m at him, but I really doubt it. And the teams that could afford to throw $8m at him with all of its associated risks...he has to want to go there, too.

So, yeah, $5m might be less than he ends up signing somewhere for, but I don't see it as crazy low.

The hip surgery was a concern before he signed with the Red Wings. He had 47 points in 50 games AFTER the hip surgery. I don't think anyone is worried about that.
