I dont think another GM would’ve been able to predict this would happen. Schultz was struggling in Edmonton, and needed a change. Draft picks are just a crap shoot. Karlsson would not have come to Edmonton. Another GM wouldve made some mistakes like this

We may not have taken Barzal, but the team would still have been strong without him. Shultz was hated because he was mismanaged by coaches. In Pittsburg he got sheltered minutes, ozone starts, and pp time, look where he is now. Karlsson may have came because there was a lot of hype surrounding Connor Mcdavid, there still is! I think the team reasonably could have looked like this, maybe minus Barzal, and maybe a different elite defensemen like OEL instead of EK.
