I like the idea of the Blues doing this.
Also, taking on some bad contracts to gain some picks for the 2019 draft that is supposedly deep. Considering the above squad one would assume you are not a contender so having a hopeful low pick and additional picks allow the Blues to determine what prospects are going to work out and take 1 year to rebuild and gain some picks.
Bad contracts that come to mind would be Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik.

Man the Blues have all the right elements to get back in the playoffs next year, no need for a 1 year rebuild.
That being said, why isn't Barbashev on the roster? he's a good big young center isn't he?

Blues do not have the right elements to be in the playoffs without some additions to the roster. And Barbashev is decent and like 6 foot, still has not proven to be a regular.
