Description
Here's a look at what the flames COULD look like down the road with some good luck on Player Development. This doesn't really consider salary implications, though I think this should fit fine under a cap. Also, the trades were more just to get the players off the team (Brouwer can be bought out, Frolik and Stone are tradeable, Smith is done at the end of the year.)

Imagine if Jankowski proved he could be bonafide 2nd line center. It's not unreasonable to think he could, but it's also a bit of a long shot.

Then if Mangiapane and Dube prove they are NHL players, then the Flames could have a pretty solid Forward group!

On D it's not unreasonable to think that Anderson and Valmaki could soon hold down the bottom pairing.

The big questionmark if Goaltending. I doubt Parsons, Gillies, or Ritich prove they are a #1 goalie in the next 2 years. So likely the flames package one of them, with a prospect/pick and maybe a roster player to try an grab a Solid option. This would allow the other young goalies to work their way in as a Back-up. We could resign Smith to accomplish the same thing, but one of these years his play is going to fall off a cliff.

I would say that Dube ends up on the wing ahead of Bennett, Ryan can move back to center and Spencer Foo would slot in somewhere! Future looks bright in Calgary, can't wait!

Calgary will have a nice team for the years to come, but don't think that you can add picks when you trade player that they almost cap dumb (Stone, Frolik, Brower and Mike Smith). Did you think about a first goalie ? No one in your combo can be a #1...

Totally agree. I mentioned in my description that the trades were all just afterthoughts to get the players off the team, not really an attempt at fair value. I retained $1.5mm on Brouwer cause he is most likely to be bought out than traded.

Goalie is my biggest concern, but I think that Calgary tries to turn a Prospect, a Goalie Prospect and picks (some combination) into a number one at some point - likely next Draft, cause that's where Tre likes to do his work!

It would be awesome if Dube made that push. I like him a lot, but I also am not willing to give up on Bennett yet. This year will be his make or break year. If he performs reasonably well, but doesn't wow and Dube comes in and plays great, then I think Bennett becomes a piece in a trade for a #1 goalie.

Looking forward to the next few years. We have most of the pieces now!
