Stripping out the dying parts of the team
- Lucic sent with RNK and. first for Formenton (3-4 line forward with speed), Duchene (with new contract in place). Duchene gives McD someone who can set up and score, play at the same speed. Provides an elite first line.
Trade Benning to move cap room / open up spots for emerging D (perhaps 4th is underselling)
Sign Williams for his vet savvy and work ethic (at a miraculous $1.5 because other teams pass on him).
Bring in Pacorietty for a younger Puljujarvi and a pick to give Draisatl someone to play with.
Gardiner gives the Oilers a genuine puck moving D to get the puck up to their top line.

Team features young 1A goalie and vet 1B goalie in Miller with improving D under hitchcock and stronger scoring.

Team could use more speed on 4th line, better D and a real #1 goalie - but this moves them to be more competitive.
