I feel like you hurt the team here.

Sure trade coburn. But you don't need Tanev. Dotchin can play with hedman as I believe he will continue to grow. I believe Tampa would resign Stralman.

Johnson gives you better forward depth and I believe if you did need a red then you could trade for a younger d man to replace Stralman at his retirement.

The Tanev trade is mostly because I don't think TBL would be able to re-sign Stralman. He's getting older and I think he would command a lot more than what Tanev is under contract for (for two more years, too). Plus, they don't even have to re-sign Tanev when his deal is up either. By 2020-21, when his deal expires, I'm sure Cal Foote would be ready to pencil in on the second D pair behind Dotchin. It's all about cap space, really.

As for Johnson, that definitely does hurt the team but it was mostly for cap space. He can't be your third line center forever, and especially not at that cap hit/term.
