Description
Team is not that bad. Don't trade Nuge or Klefbom they are good players with good contracts. Biggest issue seems to be the wingers. They could try Nuge on McDavids wing and sign a UFA 3rd/4th line center (1,5-2 mil). If a prospect winger emerges you can put Nuge back to center.
Trade Maroon at the deadline while his value is high for a young winger + 2nd round draft pick (should be possible). Trade Letestu, Cammalleri, Slepyshev for picks at the deadline (EDM needs more prospect depth). (The teams i traded with for picks were selected randomly)
Sign a solid UFA winger for the McDavid/Nuge line using the remaining cap space (about 3 mil). Keep Yamamoto in the AHL, give him time to develop.
They still need a top 4 RHD but won't get one without giving up too much so they will have to make do with what they got. At least for a season. Then try to trade Sekera and Russel when their NMC turns to modified NTC (2019/20).

Draft:
EDM will probably pick around 8th overall.
1st round: Oliver Wahlstrom (goalscorer, let him develop in college for a year or two) -> good prospects at RW (Puljujärvi, Yamamoto, Wahlstrom)
2nd round: RHD (position of need)
2nd round (Maroon trade): Center that can play LW
rest of draft: no goalies, got enough of those. take some more wingers and RHD

        I totally agree with all of your trades! Spot on. Hopefully trade those 2 3rds for a 2nd.

        Feel bad saying this but if only that pick would turn out a little higher.. like 5th, maybe Zadina could fall that far.

        What scares me about looking at this roster is cap space after the season. Poolparty and Talbot need new deals with no significant cap space coming. Which makes me wonder. Who goes?

        Edit - Looking at your signings. I would not besigning Strome or Grabner for more then a year. If at all in Stromes case. Best bundle him with some picks for a higher pick at this years draft.

        2nd Edit - I 100% agree with you about keeping Nuge and Klef.

        Agreed, Strome is not ideal but I guess he will stick and I'm not sure he will take a 2 year deal, so that was sort of a realistic guess on my side.
        Same with Grabner, 2 years would be better but i doubt a 30 year old UFA goes for a 2 year deal, also I think he will stay with the Rangers, so that is more of an example for a solid UFA winger for the McDavid line.

        Cap space is kinda scary. Puljujärvi maybe a bridge deal, if there is cap space in the 18/19 season maybe sign him in the summer to keep the contract a bit lower. Talbot is a tough one... Unfortunately none of the young goalies in the system seem to be ready to step up. Desperately hope they can move Sekera and Russell in 19/20 when both their NMC convert to modified NTC (chances of that are not that high). That would free up some cap space and with Nurse, Klefbom and Davidson there are solid options on LHD to compensate for those trades. The cap space problems are in my opinion just one more reason to get more depth at the prospect level so they can feed a bit more of their own system.

        Draft: Zadina would be amazing! But it seems like they are not tanking hard enough.. If they are actually drafting higher then yes Zadina or maybe Boqvist (RHD)
