Low cost additions that could prove worthwhile for a cup run. Basically giving up very little for very little. Hoping that a change of scenery would work, and if not, not much has been lost.
I like the idea of those trades. Maybe not the Prust part but Grabner could add even more ridiculous speed to the already speedster arsenal of Kessel, Hagelin and Letang. Also, Baertschi could become an elite winger if playing with a capable center (Sid the kid). He does not have to play with him immediately but when Kunitz drops down again or when he retires or gets traded Baertschi could definitely thrive beside Sid.
thats the part of the reasoning of trying a low cost/ risk high reward trade scenario. Vancouver would like to rid themselves of some players to rebuild, and those marginal players that they are attempting to rid themselves may be useful for the cup run. It might be better not to trade away assets that we do not have on rentals, but rather get players that may thrive in a new environment. Basically add something for nothing. An those players have low cap figures and can be gone after 1-2 years. If they are successful, then all the better. Its a win win.
