Description

I compared Carlsons contract to Dustin Byfuglien for AAV and age at the end of the contract. Decided against resigning either Maroon or Grabner to give younger guys a chance to make an impact. I think the devils could use a high impact top 6 winger but Bratt should be more consistent next year and hopefully Johansson can be healthy and get in a groove which he was never able to do this year. I don't think the devils should be spending 6+ million on any of the wingers on the market if they are to sign carlson. they need to be thinking about the potential contracts on the guys on ELCs now and Hall.

This is a really smart post. As a Devils fan all I see on this site is fans making massive trades and essentially destroying Shero's work for players like EK and JVR. While I think they should resign Grabner if he can be had for an affordable price, and should absolutely go after Jersey boy John Carlson, I also know that soon Butcher, Hischier, and Bratt will need new contracts and that in 2 years Halls a UFA (as well as Vats.) If we want to avoid another Parise situation, we need to focus on keeping Taylor long term

I really like this, I wouldn't mind NJ picking up another top 6 forward, even though with a full healthy summer it will feel like that with Mojo since he played less than half the year. We desperately need LHD though, Andy Greene simply isnt good enough to be a top pair anymore. I think Butcher can make the bump next year but we need a minute muncher on the left side.
