Blockbuster with CBJ

Created by: matt59
Team: 2018-19 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 24, 2018
Published: Apr. 25, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Stabilizes the long term cap situation in Minnesota, gives the wild a second 1st round pick in 2018, and infuses the lineup with a young player who can score in Milano, a player in Jenner who can get under the oppositions skin and create some offense and win faceoffs, a cheaper top 4 d man in Savard with one more year of term, a future top 4 defenseman in Gabriel Carlsson, and a conditional pick in 2020 depending on the futures of Spurgeon and Granlund.

Wild would also have the option now to either draft using the two firsts, trade up to 8-10 possibly, or trade for immediate help. Gives minnesota lots of options.

I like the trade but take the draft picks out and also I personally think Minny has to give up a little more for those players. Those are all high value players for CBJ.

They’re good players for CBJ, but for this franchise, good is the enemy of great. Savard is a top 4 guy, but for the system the team plays, i don’t know if it’s the right fit. Jenner is all effort but the team can’t afford to overpay on money or term when they have to pay the stars that keep the team afloat. Milano and Carlsson are still young and unproven, but have higher ceilings. Without a doubt imo Granlund and Spurgeon are far better than Jenner and Savard, hence why the picks and young guys are added. Top end guys like Granny and Spurgeon are what CBJ needs to get over the hump, but they do come at a fairly steep price

I'm intrigued by this. What I don't know is how Milano and Carlsson have progressed and how close they are to being full-time NHLers. The 18th OA pick in this draft is a weird one because this summer's draft is supposed to have a significant drop off after 14 or so players...
I like Jenner a lot too. I think he has the game to be a very effective playoff player...something the Wild lack!

If both Jenner or Carlsson and/or Milano were right shot players, I would be even more interested in this deal. As it is, I would be more inclined to off you Spurgeon and Zucker for this package.

Milano is ready for full time NHL duty. Carlsson is close, not certain if ready for a full 82 game season though. Carlsson made the team out of camp to start 2017, but injury derailed him and he got passed on the depth chart. Wouldn't hate getting Zucker. Reminds me of a slightly more offensive Brandon Saad.
