laugh laugh Dude you're way under paying both Larkin and Mantha? Larkin gets at least 8 years $48 million Mantha probably 3 years $13.5 million give or take. Obviously you haven't figured out value yet.

Larkin and Mantha have had good seasons, but you can't give them 4-5 million a year with only a few seasons under their belts. Larkin has had struggles in the past (His sophomore season saw him score only 32 points) and Mantha has had only two majority NHL seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18) and while he led the team in goals last season, he needs to prove he will turn out as the power-forward winger that the Red Wings need him to be. Athanasiou failed to show he was ready to step into a second-line position on the team. He scored 33 points, but was weak defensively with a -15 rating. Larkin may garner a larger contract, but I believe a two year gap deal would be the most beneficial for the team. He's only 21 and hasn't shown enough for a $5-6 million contract. The Wings have to protect their future cap space (something Holland has done poorly). Mantha will not get $4 million a year, but I believe he could see a contract of $2-3 million for 2-3 years. AA will get another gap deal and Holland won't give him a large contract. These reasons are why I put them at the contract values they received.

Also, this is what SHOULD happen, not what WOULD happen. This is mostly hopeful. smile

I love how in your "2018/2019 Opening season" roster you have Jonathon Ericsson as a first-pairing defenseman. He is a pylon and his -7 rating and 13 points prove that. A good defensive-defenseman should score at least 20 points and his stats in no way set him up for a first-pair position. Maybe you're the one who doesn't know value.
Also, Larkin getting $7 million is a terrible deal. He has potential, but it is a huge risk for the Wings to pay him that.
$4.5 million for Mantha isn't terrible for his goal-scoring, but I don't agree with giving him that much.

Where do you think Blash has had Ericsson most of the season top pairing with Trevor Daley? I'm not saying it's a wise choice to put Ericsson on the top pairing. But he's a better choice over both Kronwall and DDK. DDK has been a tire fire on the top pairing and Kronwalls knees being shot that only leaves Errorsson unfortunately. I only went with what Blashill has been doing. As far as Larkin being worth $7 million i totally agree he's not worth that much quite yet. But you've to remember that Holland loves to over-pay his star players. I think Larkin will get closer to $6 million or $6.5 million per for 6 to 8 years but i wouldn't rule out him getting closer to $7 million per either. Tough to tell right now. I think Mantha is probably worth around $3.75 million to $4 million on a 3 year bridge deal but $4.5 million for a supposed 30/30 power forward isn't unreasonable Larkin is the future of the Wings organization and will be paid accordingly Mantha probably slightly lower.

I agree on Larkin. I see him getting around 4-5 million for three years. Hopefully Holland doesn't turn the Wings into complete garbage with another huge AAV contract. The dumpster fire is going to continue next season no matter what happens though.
